  • extensive academic training, professional preparation and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment
  • knowledge of, and successful experience with, the application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all area of this assignment
  • Bachelor of Science degree with a Major or Minor in Physics is preferred
  • extensive academic training and qualifications in teaching Physics at the secondary school level
  • extensive experience in teaching Physics courses at the secondary school level
  • demonstrated competence in teaching science at the secondary school level using a strong focus on hands-on learning
  • demonstrated ability to devise a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to demonstrate what their learning
  • demonstrated commitment to professional learning in the Sciences
  • demonstrated skills supporting and mentoring students with project-based learning where students can work individually or collaboratively on an in-depth learning experience
  • ability and commitment to indigenizing curriculum
  • ability to understand and apply mathematical concepts, processes, and skills to solve problems and make decisions in a variety of situations, including real-life scenarios
  • ability to design lessons for a strong commitment to scientific literacy and numeracy development that promotes the ability to understand, critically analyze, and create a variety of forms of communication
  • ability to design curricular lesson and unit plans with a strong emphasis on the following three core competencies: communication, thinking, and personal and social competency
  • ability to design lesson and unit plans that focus on deep understanding and application of knowledge
  • ability to design lessons with hands-on experiences in collaboration, critical thinking, and communication
  • demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for working, and developing positive relationships, with adolescents
  • an exemplary work ethic with a proven ability to work as an effective team member
