Job Description

VP OF CONSTRUCTIONPOSITION OVERVIEWReporting to the President, the VP of Construction will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of construction within the business. This role will provide guidance and support to team members to ensure scheduling, budget, safety, quality standards, and processes are all followed.Effective problem solving, risk mitigation, trade management, relationship building, and overseeing project success are all key responsibilities.WHO WE AREAt Gatehouse, our passion is building homes where quality and craftsmanship speak for themselves.We are dedicated, collaborative, and passionate about the work to provide the highest quality of standards.   • Oversee the projects and team members through to close out and warranty.
  • Review, track, and report on overall project budget and scheduling including cash flow forecasts, variance analysis, partner reporting packages, etc.
  • Maintain client relationships while managing conflict resolution
  • Execution of planning, pre-construction, and construction activities related to multiple projects
  • Participate in the tendering process and sub trade selection
  • Analyze complex contracts and other legal and regulatory documentation
  • Manage relationships with consultants, contractors, vendors, etc. and evaluate their performance to ensure effective partnering.
  • Ensure city and municipality requirements are met and dealt with in an appropriate manor.
  • Identify and address areas of concern regarding potential liabilities and risk (fee, reputation, errors, omissions, etc.)
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use and application of all current and emerging technology/software’s as required for the assigned projects.
  • Coordinate, chair, and participate in various project and site meetings, working collaboratively with the project team.
  • Act as the primary senior level contact for all project related activities
  • Guide the in-house project management team, office, and field staff
  • Head the recruitment process and hiring new team members
  • Other duties as required by management
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience operating as a senior level project manager or higher with experience geared towards multi-family residential development and building.
  • Construction related degree or certification is considered an asset
  • Contract management experience in tendering, negotiation, and budgeting
  • A high level of skill working within Microsoft Office
  • Strong knowledge of BC Building Codes and Regulations
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting and financial reporting, budgeting, and scheduling processes
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate, and lead a construction team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Procore Construction Software is considered an asset
  • Class 5 drivers license with ability to travel, when necessary, between the office and site locations.
