Community:Clyde RiverKinngaitSanikiluaqReference number:10 - 506883Type of employment:IndeterminateType of Employment 2:This employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit who reside in Kinngait, Clyde River and Sanikiluaq only.Union Status:This position is included in the Nunavut Employees UnionSalary:$69,526 to $78,899 per year, 37.5 hours/weekNorthern Allowance:$20,980 - Kinngait per year / $22,978 - Clyde River per year / $23,673 – Sanikiluaq per yearNo staff housing availableClosing Date:Friday, February 17, 2023 - 11:59pmThis employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit who reside in Kinngait, Clyde River and Sanikiluaq only.Under the direction of Regional Community Oral Health Coordinator – Baffin North (Clyde River) Baffin South (Kinngait and Sanikiluaq) and Supervisor Health Programs (SHPs), the Community Oral Health Coordinator (COHC) is responsible for oral health promotion, dental education and providing primary preventive care for children 0-12 years of age. The position will engage with partners, such as schools, daycares, and community programs to ensure access to dental care for children of this age group. The COHC will coordinate activities needed in order for oral health care professionals (such as dentists, dental therapists and dental hygienists) to complete their work in the community.The COHC will promote oral health for children between the ages of 0-12 years by delivering public service announcements and placing oral health information items in the community.The COHC will act as a link between visiting dental professionals and the community and will provide administrative support for visiting dental teams. In addition, the COHC will provide oral health education, oral health prevention care, and be responsible for office organization.Training will be provided for the successful applicant. Travel to other communities to assist dental teams may be required.A knowledge of office administration procedures, computer skills (including word processing, spreadsheets and databases), as well as effective verbal and written communication skills is required.Experience in teaching both children and adults is a strong asset.The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are typically obtained through a High School Diploma; one (1) year experience in providing dental services or office administration or a related field and an ability to communicate in Inuktitut and English is required. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position.
