Job Description

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for duties as outlined below.PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Completing best possible medication history including consultation with patient and/or family
  • Dispensing of medications, including refill prescriptions and outpatient prescriptions
  • Maintaining established prescription levels, including narcotics and controlled substances
  • Compounding and packaging of sterile and non-sterile medications including bio-hazardous agents in acceptance of manufacturing practice and WHMIS guidelines
  • Conducting continuous improvement audits as designated, including expiration date and monitoring and medication area inspections
  • Performing computerized profiling and auditing tasks as trained
  • Performing miscellaneous projects, filing and clerical duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Good interpersonal and team skills
  • Basic computer skills
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Extensive walking periods, prolonged standing
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Intense visual, listening and mental concentration
  • Able to manage time effectively in order to meet deadlines
