And, we value your commitment to treat every person on our team with respect, helping us to operate safely, protect the environment and make a positive contribution to our local communities.ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYBased at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for* Process Plant Operator *to join our Process Plant Operations team reporting to the Process Plant Operations Supervisor.Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential. The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt. The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.The Process Plant Operator will be accountable for the safe operation of process equipment within the Process Plant to achieve production targets effectively and in a timely manner.RESPONSIBILITIESYour responsibilities will include:

  • Operate all processes and related equipment in adherence to safe operating procedures;
  • Monitor and analyze process data and take actions to optimize plant performance;
  • Perform Lockout/Tag out of process equipment to a Zero Energy state;
  • Complete operational inspections and housekeeping tasks in designated sections of the plant;
  • Monitor reagents dosage and inventory;
  • Routine maintenance and cleaning of mill equipment; (Troubleshooting operational upsets and minor technical issues);
  • Ensure that all safety issues are reported to the Supervisor and promptly remedied;
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure effective decision making;
  • Promote a positive health, safety and environment culture and the Internal Responsibility System.
QUALIFICATIONSOur ideal candidate has:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED;
  • Minimum three years’ experience operating in a mineral process treatment plant, preferably in a gold plant;
  • Experience in crushing, conveying, grinding, leaching and gold recovery is a strong asset;
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe working practices;
  • Display good problem solving skills with a mechanical aptitude to handle minor projects.
