Job Description

Job descriptionThe Operations Integrity/ SSHE position is available at Imperial’s Cold Lake, Alberta location. This is a term position providing up to one year paid internship with the possibility of a one-year extension. Upon successful completion of the indigenous internship program, possibility for offer of full-time employment.Your primary responsibility will be supporting the Environment, Regulatory, Emergency Response and Security Team at the Cold Lake Operations site ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and approvals, and supporting implementation of the company’s environmental, emergency response and security strategy.This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain valuable experience in the oil and gas industry. We offer you challenging, discipline-related work experience in an operating environment.Transportation to and from the work site is provided to those within 80 km from the Cold Lake operations. If you reside further than 80 km away, you are required to make arrangements for a pick-up point within the 80 km.Key Responsibilities

  • Environmental performance or security reporting with accuracy and timeliness as required by regulatory approvals or internal requirements
  • Development and implementation of environmental, regulatory or security standards and managing systems for the site
  • Working with geospatial data
  • Maintaining site documentation such as waste manifest, environmental or regulatory inspections, etc.,
  • Managing environmental protection and regulatory compliance efforts at the site
  • Routine environmental field sampling and inspections
  • Supporting the development, implementation and surveillance of compliance programs including plans, procedures and training
  • Leading and completing specific environmental management project(s) or improvement opportunities in the areas of environmental, regulatory, emergency response or security which could involve developing new management systems, guidelines, or tools
QualificationsAcademic
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is mimimum
  • Preferred post-secondary studies (completed or currently pursuing) in Environmental Science, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Indigenous Relations or related programs is an asset
Other
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and safe driving record are required
  • Previous industry or environmental experience is considered beneficial, but not essential
  • Proficiency with computer-based data management programs, spreadsheet and presentation applications
  • Self-motivation with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to problem solve
