Night Shift Addiction Support WorkerReports ToAssistant DirectorSummaryNight Shift Addiction Support Workers work with clients from diverse backgrounds who have various addiction disorders such as drug, alcohol and behavior/process addictions. Night Shift Addiction Support Workers supervise the participants throughout the night, provide emotional support when necessary, cleaning duties throughout the facility and various clerical duties assigned by the Assistant Director. The successful candidate will provide residential support through crisis intervention, recreational activities, assisting with other programming components and facilitating clients’ attendance at self-help meetings. As a Night Shift Addiction Support Worker, you will contribute to the delivery of community based services to persons with a chronic addiction and/or severe and persistent mental illness using psychosocial rehabilitation principles, promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. Your duties will include carrying out assigned tasks in a client focused recovery plan which includes support to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities.Shifts are on a four on, four off shift rotation from 12:30am to 8:30am.Core Competencies· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills· Time management skills· Patience and open-mindedness· Strong altruistic and empathic ability· Emotional maturity· Professional boundaries· Decision making and judgement· Teamwork and cooperation· Enforcing rules and regulationsJob Duties· Supervising participants to ensure they adhere to facility rules and regulations· Provide Support to each participant specific to their identified Treatment Plan and Goals, additionally use any and all opportunities to maintain and reinforce their addiction treatment plan; when overseeing and facilitating social/recreational activities, one to one interactions/conversations and group gatherings, to inform and maintain focus on the addiction treatment plan, at all times and in all aspects of the treatment programming· Medication administration to participants following MAR (training provided by iRecover)· Reporting rule-breaking observed to counsellors during the morning shift handover· Hourly rounds throughout the building· Answer questions participants might have and pointing them in the right direction to find answers· Wake-up calls for participants· Provide emotional support and active listening throughout the night for clients if necessary· Completing a shift summary· Maintain confidentiality· Preparing breakfast cart for the clients continental breakfast, which includes cutting and plating fruit· General clerical duties may be required, for example creating binders that contains program materials· Sweep/mop floors nightly· General tidy of the facility· Take garbage/recycling out as needed· Receive and put away linen order weekly· Keep snow cleared from the front/back deck doorways (winter)· Ensure our iRecover Facility complies with all BC Health Orders - COVID 19 policy, procedures and regulations.· Any other duties assigned by the Assistant DirectorRequirements: · Experience working with vulnerable population considered an asset· Clean Drivers Abstract· Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector· Up to date First Aid and ASSIST training preferredWorking Conditions· May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to HIV and Hepatitis B or C viruses· Interacts with residents, family members, staff, visitors and government agencies.· Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals· Ability to manage behaviourally complex individuals.· Ability to understand a myriad of mental health concerns.Job Type: Full-timeBenefits:
