Salad Packager - Production Line WorkChoose your shift: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 8:00am - 6:30pm [Wednesdays and Weekends Off]Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 5:00am - 3:30pm [Wednesdays and Weekends Off]Monday - Friday, 5:15am - 1:45pmJob DescriptionReporting to the Production Supervisors, the Salad Packager is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the processing and packaging of lettuce and spinach for the preparation of salads. Each Salad Packager will be working with the raw product on the washline, cutting romaine, lidding & packaging, and measuring inserts (salad toppings). The work is repetitive and can be physically demanding. This is a unionized position with UFCW-1518.Main Responsibilities· Opening and distributing raw material from cases and plastic boxes at the wash line· Cut, weigh, pre-wash and prepare lettuce, vegetables etc.· Fill lettuce bins, cleaning and preparation for packing· Distribute bowls, lids, packaging boxes on the various production/packaging lines· Place salad-topping ingredients manually in the "insert" containers· Place the insert in the salad kits· Inspect labels on product, inspect product quality· Pack cardboard boxes with salad kits, load boxes on to pallets, wrap pallets for shipping· Prepare and identify the pallets at the locations intended for shipment· Perform other related duties.Qualifications and Requirements· Be able to visually inspect product, packaging and labels for quality and correctness· Possess a full range of movement: lifting, twisting, bending, reaching· Ability to lift loads up to 50 Ib (some workstations)· Ability to work standing in a refrigerated and humid environment (3°C) for long periods of time· Be able to read, speak and understand English, to communicate well with supervisors and co-workers· Relevant experience in a manufacturing or agribusiness environment is an asset· Schedule flexibility· Reliable transportation to work each day· High school diploma is an assetRequested Skills· Efficient work speed· Ability to work under pressure· Meticulous· Ability to take direction and learn new skills· TeamworkVegPro International Inc. is a Canadian leader for the innovation of its agricultural production of baby leaf lettuce and salads, supplying customers in North America all year long under the well-known label, Fresh Attitude.
