If you can relate, we want to hear from you!Reporting to the Drilling & Completions Superintendent, the DCL Field Supervisor provides leadership to Wellsite Supervisors and Service Company representatives regarding all aspects of project execution and well construction. As the MEG Energy operational representative, the DCL Field Supervisor ensures alignment of activities with MEG’s priorities and stresses health and safety, environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence in accordance with MEG Energy’s policies, programs, Drilling and Completions Practices and Procedures.If you are looking to join an exciting company, take on a role that will support best practices, while continuously improving processes and polices for a forward thinking, people focused organization, then this is the role for you!Your day-to-day:

  • Provide and demonstrate personal safety leadership in accordance with MEG Energy Corp’s Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Program
  • Provide and demonstrate personal leadership in supporting a respectful workplace and MEG’s Values
  • Responsible for operations and near-term planning of the organization’s drilling projects and well servicing operations
  • Supervise and lead the Drilling & Completions field staff in day-to-day activities
  • Ensure EHS policies, regulations, procedures, and practices are adhered to in all areas of operation and influence and promotes proactive behaviors and a Behavior Based Safety culture
  • Principle contacts between Drilling and Completions Operations and other Business Units at the field level
  • Ensure that drilling and completions teams execute best in class drilling and completions practices regarding safety and operational efficiency
  • Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting major unplanned events
  • Monitor costs and performance and continually strive to reduce costs/days required to drill and complete wells
  • Review and approve programs prepared by drilling & completions staff
  • Assists Drilling and Completions Engineering on program generation, optimization, execution, and scope changes
  • Monitors onsite inventory and forecasting future consumption needs, incorporating checks and balances for completeness & accuracy
  • Reviewing and editing of daily Wellview reports
  • Coordinating lock outs and permit acquisition
  • Daily visits to each operation and complete audits for safety, work quality and ensure supervisors are competent and understand the job they are executing
What you will bring to MEG:
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas Industry in the capacity of well site planning, construction, drilling and completions operations and reclamation is required
  • A consistent history of operational excellence in field-based positions is strongly preferred
  • Certifications required include well servicing or second line well control certification, H2S Awareness, Standard First Aid & CPR, WHIMIS, TDG, IRP 16 training and ICS 200
  • Proficiency in the use of Wellview, Excel and Maximo are required
  • Strong background in drilling and completions operations and logistical support must demonstrate enthusiasm and drive for continuous improvement
  • Committed to achieving incident free operations is a must
  • Must be able to take ownership and make timely decisions and communicate outcomes
  • Strong team player and be able to work well with others, effective communicator and provides constructive feedback
  • Provides leadership and direction to contractors and field supervisors
  • Must have skills for managing multiple operations by setting goals, creating plans, and allowing for appropriate risk evaluation and mitigation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships both within MEG Energy as well as Partner Groups, Service Companies and Regulatory agencies
  • Ability to control and manage emergency situations making quick and informed decisions and acting on them appropriately
  • Ability to be On Call every other weekend to provide coverage is required
  • This is a Fly-In, Fly-Out position, working on a 4&3 rotation (Monday-Thursday), flying out of Calgary or Edmonton
