People like you!Job DescriptionPosition Overview:We are currently seeking a QA Technician on a full-time, to join our team of skilled professionals based at our Calgary , AB Plant. This state-of-the-art manufacturing plant produces premium roofing shingles in a high-speed, continuous, asphalt shingle manufacturing process environment.Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of a quality plan to drive continuous improvement in plant performance and assuring that the finished product complies with company, industry, and government standards.Responsibilities:- Performs tests in the Laboratory on key parameters associated with the quality assurance of finished products- Monitors the quality of finished products in Real-time, resolves with the production team and escalates quality issues on a timely basis- Monitors quality impact of new production processes, methods, or equipment- Implements ongoing quality improvement processes and procedures working with interdepartmental teams and with the involvement of the production employees- Support the development and implementation of a quality plan to drive continuous improvement in plant performance- Measures quality assurance metrics to opportunities for improvement, progress on goals, and accountability for performance- Identifies troubleshoots and drives resolution of production quality deficiencies and problems- Escalates quality assurance issues to the Quality team and Plant management on a timely basis- Ensures that the Lab equipment is calibrated and in good condition and communicates material and spare requirements in advance- Collates and analyses performance data and charts against defined parameters- Works with shipping to ensure that outgoing products are sorted segregated, isolated, and downgraded as per disposition from the quality team- Be able to lift 25 lbs. The person may be required to move a bundle of shingles with 60lbs on a trolley, this task is usually done with assistanceEducation:- Diploma or Degree in a Science related field- Bachelor #39;s Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution is an asset but not requiredQualifications:- Experience in an industrial process manufacturing environment in a quality assurance role with hands-on experience with quality management systems preferred- Proficient with MS Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint- Excellent communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and interpersonal skills- Experience working in a Laboratory environment and calibrating troubleshooting instruments will be an assetPersonal Qualities- Commitment to HSE- Ability to prioritize tasks- Communication: Ability to interact with Frontline teams- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where tests results may be required quickly- Self-initiative: Ability to work diligently without supervision- Team player: Able to help QA/QC supervisor with tasks assignedSchedule:- The work schedule is flexible, and availability to work weekends, and holidays is requiredBenefits of Employment: IKO recognizes that its success is due to the strength of its employees.
