Wood is currently recruiting for a Subsurface Manager - Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the Energy industry, including advanced degree credit. This is a permanent position, seated out of our Calgary, AB officeThe Subsurface Manager - Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) will be responsible for ensuring that the objectives of the business and its Customers are performed to a satisfactory high standard and that specific work tasks are performed safely, effectively and in compliance with the specified objectives. As such, he/she shall be responsible for key technical leadership roles on projects and be viewed as a Technical Authority (TA) and a senior level focal point for the Customer, Contractor(s), Suppliers/Vendors and other internal department(s).Key Responsibilities:- act as the center of expertise within the Intelligent Operations business for all related technical activities- Independently perform detailed technical work in support of project and study work;- Provide technical oversight and technical QA on key projects for the Division;- Monitor operations, resources and where appropriate obtain approval for proposed expenditure for specific tasks and report to Operations Supervisor, Project Manager, or Customer (as required);- Perform technical monitoring and approval of any work by external contractors or vendors;- Participate in Safety Reviews / HAZOP, and Risk Assessments and ensure that the foreseeable effects of specific tasks are fully assessed;- Act as an expert technical interface as required for peer reviews, partner #39;s meetings, etc.;- Approve project documents and ensure QA compliance on strategic projects for the Division; and- Propose, monitor, and/or execute research key for the Operations Division.- Approve work scopes, proposals, and CTRs on key projects for the Division- Bachelor #39; degree in Engineering (Chemical, Petrochemical, or relevant discipline) required; advanced degree a strong asset- Minimum of 15 years direct experience within the Oilamp; Gas or Petrochemical Industry- Strong reservoir modelling background and experience;- Experience in design and/or operation of CCS system, fully familiar with different elements of the designamp; operation chain with a focus on transport and storage;- Fully familiar with challenges associated with transport of CO2 rich fluid, including phase equilibria and thermodynamics, thermophysical properties of such fluids and the impact of impurities, thermo-hydraulic aspects, chemical reactions, and integrity risks;- Expert understanding of related analysis tools and technologies and their limitations;- A proven reputation as a valuable internal technical expert.- A recognized industry reputation within the Energy Industry, through publications and industry participation- Proven ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities.- Ability to work with Senior Management on core technology issues.- Demonstrated Leadership skills- Strong organizational skills- Strong communication and interpersonal skills- Must be a Canadian citizen or authorized to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Wood.- This role requires 20% travel across North AmericaWood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world #39;s most critical challenges.
