We envision a bright future in Coquitlam that we hope includes you!We are currently recruiting for a Business Analyst (BA) to join our Finance, Lands and Police team. Reporting to the Business Services Manager, this position will lead the analysis of business processes and the development of process improvement initiatives across the department. This position will support business process improvements, review of internal controls, data gathering and analysis, along with modernization of technology.The Business Analyst will review and enhance department policies, procedures and processes to improve departmental effectiveness and efficiency, along with mitigating risks. The successful incumbent will work closely with internal clients to ensure financial management, procurement and other business needs provided by the department are being met, and identify efficiencies that can be achieved through the use of technology and best practices as it relates to business processes. This role will require proven experience in business process design, gathering and analyzing complex data, collecting and creating business requirement documents and translating these into technical specifications and/or configuration requirements that cross multiple functional areas.The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:

  • Expertise in understanding and analyzing current financial and procurement processes in order to improve business operations related to customer service delivery;
  • Proficiency in communicating in non-technical terms with staff through meetings, training, project plans, etc;
  • Ability to analyze, document and evaluate data and information requirements and to develop logical solutions;
  • Ability to undertake detailed mapping and analysis of end-to-end business process and standard work procedures;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and to provide advice and assistance on matters related to the work;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and to prepare and maintain quality technical reports and system and user documentation;
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and to achieve project and department goals;
  • Ability to develop and implement training programs in the use of new or revised systems.
The successful incumbent must possess excellent communication skills, written and verbal; have the ability to write business-appropriate correspondence and make presentations as appropriate; have the ability to use relevant financial software programs for effective project management tracking and reporting.The successful incumbent will have 5+ years of progressive experience in the field of finance management and business analysis as well as possessing a Bachelor’s degree and/or applicable experience in the field of Information Technology, Public Administration, Commerce or Business Administration, supplemented by courses in business analysis or business process design.
