Job Description

CareCorp Senior Services are a trusted agency company who provide superior healthcare, food services, housekeeping and laundry service to long-term care facilities across BC.We are looking for a cook to join our amazing kitchen team in one of our beautiful long-term care facilities.Previous experience cooking for seniors in a long term care facility is preferred but not required!Facility address: Cartier House seniors Community: 1419 Carties Ave, Coquitlam, BC, V3K 2C6Position details: Permanent Part Time: Sun/ Mon (0630-1430) Cook Helper, Wed/ Thurs (0930-1730) CookCompensation: $23.81 + extended health benefits after probationResponsibilities:

  • Prepares assigned food items by following established menus, recipes, and quantity quotas, determining ingredients and quantities required and assembling ingredients and equipment required for cooking.
  • Plans preparation and cooking schedule.
  • Cooks and seasons assigned food and therapeutic diet items such as soups, sauces, salads, starches, meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, and desserts by methods/procedures such as roasting, frying, grilling steaming, poaching boiling, baking: tests food items for palatability and temperature and adjusts accordingly.
  • Carves food items such as meat and poultry and controls portioning of food items to ensure recipe yield meets assigned quantity quotas.
  • Maintains established food rotations in storage, to minimize spoilage and waste.
  • Assigns tasks to designated Food Service Workers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
#mpRequirements:
  • Food Safe certificate.
  • Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in cooking or an equivalent combination education, training, and experience.
  • One-year previous experience in a long-term care kitchen environment (preferred)
  • WHIMS certificate
While the SSO is in place, you will be limited to working with only one employer and at only one (1) private long-term care hospital (facility), licensed long-term care facility, registered assisted living facility, stand-alone extended care hospital or provincial mental health facility. Unless regional clustering applies. Regional clustering allows you to, within the same region and in agreement with the facility, hold a position as permanent with one (1) employer and hold a casual position with one (1) additional employer. You may hold only one (1) permanent position, one (1) additional casual position and must not work outside of your regional cluster.The successful applicant for this job posting must provide satisfactory proof, or have such proof on file, that they have received the COVID-19 vaccination and any required COVID-19 booster vaccination.
