Job Description

Cognitive Remediation (CR) FacilitatorJob DetailsDescriptionJob Summary:Under the direction CR Program Director, CR facilitator is responsible for the delivery of trauma- informed care for people who may have or have experienced homelessness; severe addictions, mental illness, or concurrent disorders; trauma; family, cultural and community disconnection; involvement with the criminal justice or forensic system; physical health and behavioral issues. The CR facilitator is responsible for conducting therapy groups and providing individual client support utilizing therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Remediation (CR), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) and Psycho-Social Rehabilitation (PSR).Hours of WorkMonday - Friday: 08:00 – 16:00HHours subject to changeRequirements

  • Bachelors degree in Psychology or social sciences
  • Experience in a similar setting with a mental health or addictions related field.
  • Certificate in Community Mental Health / PSR an asset.
  • Vaccination as per latest BCCDC requirements.
  • Ability to provide/obtain the following upon hire:
    • A valid First Aid Certificate ("Emergency First Aid - Community Care" or equivalent)
    • TB clearance (done within the past 6 months)
    • WHMIS certificate
    • A clear Criminal Record Check done by the Ministry of Justice
  • Crisis intervention and De-escalation Training
  • Trauma Informed Practice Course
Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of cognitive impairments experienced by a person(s) with a psychiatric disability and substance use.
  • Strong understanding of CR and how to implement this approach in direct work with program participants.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate large recovery-based groups (in person and via Zoom) including (but not limited to)- CR, CBT, DBT and WRAP.
  • Creative and flexible approach to deliver group material.
  • Provide individual support to program participants to address the unique needs and challenges, including (but not limited to), CR, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness and problem solving.
  • Utilize a variety of frameworks including trauma informed care, strengths-based approaches and cultural competencies.
  • Provide both formal and informal education Coast wide in order to enhance competency and knowledge regarding CR and the use of evidence-based practice approaches.
  • Assist with, and contribute to Coast program and policy development in order to meet the needs of staff and program participants.
  • Work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Thorough understanding of the Mental Health Act.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to work at various Coast sites.
