Job SummaryPackaging Depot Coquitlam105-1120 Westwood St., Coquitlam, BC V3B 4S4Location: Coquitlam, BCPart-time: 12 - 15 hours per weekCompensation: $14.60Hours: Thursday & Friday: 12:30 PM - 4:30 PMSaturday 10: 00 AM - 2:00 PMThis is an entry-level, part-time position at Packaging Depot Coquitlam Shipping centre. The Part-Time Retail Associate will be trained on FedEx, DHL, Purolator, UPS and Loomis shipping products and will work primarily in these areas to consistently deliver a positive customer experience. The position expects you to utilize consultative skills to anticipate customer’s needs, suggest alternatives and provide solutions. The tasks also include using computer-based programs, moving boxes, stocking materials and completing assigned tasks based on priority.General Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssembles parcels and prepares goods for shipping by wrapping items in insulation, inserting items into shipping boxes, weighing packages and affixing labels to parcels.Demonstrates consultative behaviours in a retail environment to understand each customer’s individual needs.Ensures all customer problems are resolved quickly and to the satisfaction of the customer.Maintains a safe, clean and orderly retail Store.Ensures confidentiality of customer data and careful handling of documents, media, and packages.Assists with processing financial transactions using a point-of-sale-terminal (POS), including handling cash and making change.Cleans and stocks all retail store printing and shipping equipment and supplies to provide optimal performance and availability.Stays current on retail store merchandising materials and ensures proper display of all retail area product and signage.Takes preemptive action to prevent errors and waste.Follows retail store standard operating procedures as well as adhering to safety, customer service and security policies and procedures.Performs multiple tasks at the same time.Looks for opportunities to improve knowledge and skills within the retail store.All other duties as needed or required.Minimum Qualifications & RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent educationExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent computer skillsEssential FunctionsAbility to stand during entire shiftAbility to use general office equipment, e.g. computer, fax machine, copier, scanner, etc.Ability to move and lift 55 poundsAbility, on a consistent basis, to bend/twist at the waist and kneesAbility, on a consistent basis, to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other team membersAbility, on a consistent basis, to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instructionAbility, on a consistent basis, to work with minimal supervisionAbility, on a consistent basis, to report regularly to work and maintain established business hoursWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
