And we’re looking for passionate, motivated people to join us in making one of Canada’s best colleges even better.The RoleTo provide technical and daily operational support in the development and utilization of simulation resources to students and faculty in the Faculty of Health Sciences programs, working in the Simulation Laboratories, Simulation, Home Health and Therapeutic Communication Suites.Responsibilities1. Assists with organizational operations of the Simulation Laboratories, Simulation, Home Health and Therapeutic Communication Suites. a. establishes procedures, in consultation with Simulation Centre and Education Technology Coordinators and faculty, for appropriate and safe use of simulation equipment and resources; b. performs cleaning of simulators, mannequins, task trainers and other simulation equipment, as specified by manufacturer; c. performs minor repairs to simulation resources and equipment, as specified by manufacturer; d. ensures on a daily basis that the Simulation Laboratories, and Simulation and Home Health Suites are safe and clean; e. prepares Simulation Laboratory room divider schedule for each semester; f. collaborates with Simulation Centre Coordinator in scheduling and coordinating the use of the Simulation Laboratories, Simulation, Home Health and Therapeutic Communication Suites; g. liaises with equipment manufacturers, as necessary; h. consults with Simulation Centre and Education Technology Coordinators to ensure effective program operations; i. consults with Purchasing to arrange for yearly preventative maintenance of simulation resources and equipment; j. maintains an inventory of equipment loans and returns and follows up with outstanding items; k. maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment including an ongoing summary of consumable supplies costs; l. consults with Simulation Centre Coordinator to develop an ongoing supplies order that supports simulation, student practice and learning; m. assists Simulation Centre Coordinator to develop a list of capital equipment requests that supports simulation, student practice and learning; n. liaises with Purchasing in regards to supply purchase process, including completing, submitting and reviewing orders.2. Consults and collaborates with Simulation Centre and Education Technology Coordinators and CEIT to ensure effective technical operations for the Simulation Laboratories, Simulation, Home Health and Therapeutic Communication Suites. a. maintains the MediaSite scheduling system for FHS programs; b. manages inventory of FHS media, on the MediaSite server for FHS programs; c. liaises and consults with CEIT staff in relation to use, training and maintenance of the MediaSite system and interrelated technologies; d. liaises and consults with CEIT staff in relation to use of the inventory tracking system.3. Provides technical assistance to students and faculty. a. sets up and dismantles resources, equipment and materials that support the simulation learning experiences in the Simulation Laboratories, Classrooms, Simulation, Home Health and Therapeutic Communication Suites; b. prepares and updates simulation resources and materials, in consultation with Simulation Centre and Educational Technology Coordinators, as necessary; c. arranges for transport of simulation resources and equipment to classroom, as necessary; d. demonstrates to faculty, resources and equipment usage and safety procedures; e. develops and delivers workshops to train users, in consultation with Simulation Centre and Education Technology Coordinators, to the technical functionality of the equipment and resources available in the Simulation Laboratories, Simulation, Home Health and Therapeutic Communication Suites; f. assists with development and delivery of information sessions, in consultation with Simulation Centre Coordinator, either during class time or outside class time, to demonstrate to students how to use human patient simulators; g. supports and collaborates with faculty in the development, evaluation and revision of human patient simulation experiences; h. provides operational support to faculty using MediaSite technology in the Simulation, Home Health and Therapeutic Communication Suites, as necessary; i. assists with orientation of faculty, students and other stakeholders to Simulation Laboratories, Simulation, Home Health and Therapeutic Communication Suites, as necessary; j. assists faculty with running human patient simulators, as necessary.4. Maintains currency in relation to simulation and simulation technologies, which may include attending simulation workshops, conferences or courses.5. Performs other related duties as required. a. assists Simulation Centre Coordinator with updating Douglas College Nursing Laboratories Website; b. engages in promotional activities related to the Simulation Centre, which may include tours for internal and external stakeholders.To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need1. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal English. 2. Completion of a health application program at an accredited, post-secondary institution plus a minimum of two years of related work experience in a health- care related environment or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. 3. Experience working with post-secondary students and/or adult learners. 4. Demonstrated knowledge of intermediate to advanced computer skills and aptitude for software utilization. 5. Demonstrated ability to assess system problems and report issues to supervisor and collaborate in solutions oriented approach. 6. Demonstrated ability to deliver training and presentations to students and faculty on equipment and software used in Simulation Laboratories, Simulation, Home Health and Therapeutic Communications Suites. 7. Demonstrated planning, coordinating and organizational skills, together with a proven ability to work independently with a minimum of direct supervision. 8. Demonstrated ability to complete and compile reports and informational documents. 9. Demonstrated ability to engage and work in an effective, respectful and flexible manner with faculty, staff, students and external stakeholders. 10. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team. 11. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning/training. 12. Demonstrated ability to exert physical effort e.g. walking, standing, lifting and moving equipment. 13.
