Position: Program CoordinatorReports to: Supervisor of Programs and ServicesLast Updated: April 28, 2022Salary Range: Level 6 (43,539-48,920)Summary:Reporting to the Supervisor of Programs and Services, this position is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of recreation programs based on the annually approved budget. The position is also responsible for training of staff and volunteers. The incumbent works with a high level of independence, requires excellent decision-making ability and the ability to motivate, train and evaluate staff.Duties and Responsibilities:§ Responsible for organizing, implementing (delivering), and evaluating a broad range of programs in an organized and systematic manner in keeping with current budgeted plans and under the direction of the supervisor.§ Developing new programming ideas using feedback from existing programs for consideration in the next year’s budget.§ Assist with the delivery of programs, ensuring they are inclusive, comprehensive, age appropriate and contribute to the well being and development of participants.§ Responsible for maintaining all registration records, attendance, contact tracing and any required participant documents for programs.§ Responsible for program related setup and tear down.§ Follow safety and operating procedures.§ Liaise with user groups/program leaders ensuring all protocols and policies are adhered to.§ Ensure day to day cleanliness and appearance of the facility. Ensure proper sanitizing of the facility and adherence to Health guidelines.§ Assist with staff, volunteer or student training, coordination and scheduling as directed by the supervisor.§ Initiate research, development, and implementation of innovative marketing programs, including internet marketing, conventions, workshops, advertisements, brochures, newsletters, and other initiatives for programs and other Town initiatives.§ Work with the town on branding the town and developing support information for Business Development and education initiatives (spring lawn care for example).§ Keep the public informed of what is happening within the Town by both public and private entities.§ Supervision of staff and volunteers for Town programs.§ Participating in team meetings and post event, camp, and program meetings to make recommendations on improvements for future activities.§ Providing regular Program updates to Town staff including the Parks and Recreation Clerk.§ Maintains an orderly and comprehensive filing system in consultation with the supervisor.§ Initiate research, development, and implementation of innovative marketing programs, including internet marketing, conventions, workshops, advertisements, brochures, newsletters, and other initiatives.§ Perform other such related duties, responsibilities and functions as may be assigned by the Supervisor.§ This position may also be required to assist with events and camps when directed by the Supervisor.Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: § Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).§ High energy and self starter.§ Strong organizational skills are required.§ High degree of interpersonal communication and group facilitation skills required.§ Interest and ability in the development of inclusive programming for all age levels.§ Proven team player and flexibility to work outside regular hours as required.§ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.§ Knowledge of social media and promotional software is an asset.§ Ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.§ Ability to compile and maintain accurate records and reports.§ Ability to lift.§ Ensure an environment that provides excellent customer service in the community.Education and Experience: § High School graduation with preference for Post-Secondary Program in Sport & Leisure Management, Event & Recreation Management, or related field.§ 1 years’ experience in the implementation programs.§ Experience working with diverse community groups and volunteers.§ Standard First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain.§ Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and internal and external contacts.§ Valid Class 5 driver’s license.§ Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector required upon hire.WORK ENVIRONMENT: § Work varying schedule: evenings, weekends and holidays as required.§ Fill in for staff during turn over or unanticipated leaves of absence.**Screening will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled**Resumes may be used for other positions if qualifications matchJob Type: Full-timeSalary: $43,539.00-$48,920.00 per yearBenefits:
