Imagine working your cook magic in the heart of BC’s Rocky Mountains on a 481 acre regenerative farm near Cranbrook, BC.Your kitchen is in a log building … but this is no trappers cabin!Think Gaggenau, Sub-Zero and Bulthaup cabinetry as the nerve-centre of this new 6000 square foot log edifice.Your mission will be to evoke mealtime smiles from your new friends, Viv, Dean and morkie doggy, Booboo!They’re busy business leaders (well maybe not Booboo) who really need your skills to keep them healthy, nourished and effective.And this ranch is not just their home, but AlgaeCal Inc’s training centre - so teams of 6 to 20 people will be coming in frequently to work and enjoy good food in beautiful natural surroundings.They love a huge variety of organic, local foods and cooking styles.They’re also in the midst of setting up an authentic Brazilian Wood BBQ combined with Argentinian Assada in an outdoor kitchen.And they have a freezer full of elk, deer and wild-caught fish plus will raise their own chickens/eggs and veggies to support you.Afterall, your cooking is only as good as the nutrient dense ingredients you have to work with.We are what we eat - so you’ll become a critical part of Viv and Dean’s AlgaeCal.com team.Specifics

  • Position starts in April 2024.
  • Provide a variety of styles of cooking for Viv/Dean along with frequent visits from groups of 6-12 AlgaeCal leaders.
  • Ideally provide lunches/dinners 5-6 days per week.
  • Shop, cook and clean up afterward.
  • Full Time position 10-6pm mon-fri.On Fridays, prepare extra meals for the weekend.
  • Viv hails from Hong Kong, and she loves every Asian food style - but don’t worry if you don’t have Asian experience.It’s easy to learn!Dean loves nothing better than simple meats and veggies.
Experience
  • You don’t need formal training or restaurant experience!You DO NEED to have a natural sense of what great food tastes like and how to prepare it.
  • Must be able to cook several different styles of food or keen interest in learning how.
  • Believer in whole foods versus processed.All sauces will be from scratch.
  • Asian cooking experience, BBQ skills, wild game cooking experience is a plus.

  • The home is 30 minutes from Jaffray, BC and an hour from Cranbrook, so we will provide a vehicle for your work use, or pay by the km to use yours.
