Rockyview Gas Co-op serves over 1700 members / customers, with our office located in Crossfield AB. Just minutes from Airdrie, Calgary and the amazing Rocky Mountains!The Rockyview Gas Co-Op, located in Crossfield AB, has an exciting employment opportunity. If you would love to live in the beautiful gateway to the Rocky Mountains, we are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team of field staff in serving the surrounding communities and members of our Co-Op. This full-time permanent position will give the successful applicant the ability to serve and give back to the most vital of industries, the agricultural community, by maintaining and operating the natural gas distribution system that is the backbone of their operations. If you enjoy working outdoors, interacting with your customers, and like to set your own pace we would love to hear from you.DutiesGas Co-Ops install and service gas utility pipeline systems consisting of gas mains and services, pressure controllers, regulators and gas meters that transport natural gas to customer buildings/facilities.As a field technician, typical duties would include:
  • Interprets prints and specifications to determine the location, size and materials required to install gas mains,
  • Installs and maintains cathodic protection to prevent corrosion in steel and aluminum pipes,
  • Locates underground gas systems and conducts routine surveys of gas mains and distribution lines to detect and locate escaping gas,
  • Carries out routine gas system maintenance functions,
  • Operates and maintains regulating, measuring and odorizing facilities including all relevant instrumentation
  • Provides information about underground gas distribution lines and observe excavation work to ensure that underground gas facilities are protected,
  • Investigates gas leaks to determine the exact location and extent of leaks,
  • Works with contractors to expose gas lines and repair damaged pipes· Keeps detailed records of work performed, and the location and condition of pipelines.
Qualifications and Attributes: Education
  • Qualified Journeyman Gas Fitter “A”, equivalencies in education and experience will be considered
Experience:
  • Past gas distribution utility experience is an asset
  • Experience leading complex projects to completion
  • Extra consideration may be given to individuals who may not be fully qualified but have a CSO designation
Attributes:

Education:
  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

  • Gas Fitter: 2 years (preferred)
