The Park spans the Southeast corner of Alberta and the Southwest corner of Saskatchewan. The unique landscape of the area contrasts the surrounding prairie landscapes, making it an exciting destination for winter recreation opportunities.Cypress Hills Provincial Park (CHPP) is home to Hidden Valley Ski Resort (HV) as well as a diverse range of Cross Country Ski Trails. The Ski Resort is located on the Alberta side of the Park, 10 minutes from the town site of Elkwater, AB and 40 min from Medicine Hat, AB. For more information about Hidden Valley Ski Resort, visitRoleWe are looking to hire a Front Office Supervisor to oversee the front office activities at the Hidden Valley Ski Resort for the winter ski season.Front Office Supervisor duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Training and daily supervision of seasonal staff including conducting performance reviews and scheduling
  • Coordinating daily tasks of the team and ensuring daily procedures are followed
  • Reviewing staff timesheets for accuracy before submitting
  • Creating and fostering an inclusive, positive work environment for all staff and visitors
  • Reviewing and reconciling ski hill revenue
  • Managing till floats, retail sales, inventory, orders, Point of Sales system, and vendor relations
  • Managing invoices and tracking expenditures
  • Daily opening tasks, closing tasks, and ensuring the ski hill is open to the public during scheduled hours of operation
  • Operating POS System and trouble-shooting issues
  • Providing on-site concern management, troubleshooting, reporting, response and follow-up to customer complaints
  • Ensuring excellent customer service and positive guest experiences
  • Learning and adhering to emergency protocols to support visitors and staff in emergencies
  • Participating in and following OH&S policies and procedures
  • May be required to assist in various departments as needed
QualificationsEducation and Experience:
  • Two-year diploma in a related field such as business, recreation and park management, tourism and/hospitality); equivalencies will be considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience
Other mandatory requirements:
  • Recognized current Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Current CPR Level "C" Certificate / AED
Assets:
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and team work skills
  • Ability to problem-solve in a fast paced environment
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the desire to make things better through improving processes, continuous learning, and helping others develop their skills.
  • Proficiency with computer programs – Microsoft Office and Adobe
  • Retail and/or cash-handling experience and/or administration experience
  • Customer service and point-of-sales experience strongly preferred
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Hidden Valley Ski Resort facilities

  • Weekend shift differential is paid at a rate of $3.25 per hour.
Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.
  • 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
  • 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
NotesTerms of Employment:
  • Shifts are 8 hours a day, up to 40 hours a week.
  • Candidates must be willing to work weekends and holidays, varying start dates from December 1, 2022 until March 31, 2023, pending end of ski season and operational needs.

  • There is no public transportation to the Ski Resort, You must have reliable transportation to and from work. The Ski Resort is located about 10 min from Elkwater and about 40 min from Medicine Hat.
