The Park spans the Southeast corner of Alberta and the Southwest corner of Saskatchewan. The unique landscape of the area contrasts the surrounding prairie landscapes, making it an exciting destination for winter recreation opportunities.Cypress Hills Provincial Park (CHPP) is home to Hidden Valley Ski Resort (HV) as well as a diverse range of Cross Country Ski Trails. The Ski Resort is located on the Alberta side of the Park, 5 minutes from the town site of Elkwater, AB and 40 minutes from Medicine Hat, AB. For more information about Hidden Valley Ski Resort, visitRoleAre you looking for an opportunity to work at a Ski hill Resort in Southern Alberta as a Snow School Supervisor The Snow School Supervisor will work with the Snow School Instructors as well as be part as part of a team to provide ski hill guests with a positive, effective and efficient interaction and experience. If you like to ski and teach “how to ski” lessons, apply today!Snow School Instructor duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing ski and/or snowboard lessons to members of the public of all ages, including school groups
  • Delivering consistent and positive guest experiences
  • Will be required to assist in other departments outside of teaching requirements to ensure operational efficiency (for example rentals, café, operations, tickets /sales)
  • This position primarily works outdoors in variable winter weather conditions and cold temperatures
Supervisor Responsibilities:
  • Ensure correct operating procedures for department are followed
  • Operate equipment / machinery within department
  • Supervise staff within department including time sheet management, scheduling, staff work planning and training
  • Ensure correct departmental policies and procedures are followed
  • Implement public safety procedures and OH&S
  • Ensure accurate time keeping and record management
  • Schedule lessons
  • Schedule staff
  • Take daily lesson bookings and deal with customer complaints
  • Cash handling and reconciliation
  • Provide ongoing staff development in teaching and skill development
  • Have a sound knowledge of teaching methodologies from CSIA/CASI
QualificationsEducation and Experience:
  • High School Diploma and one year related experience such as teaching, coaching or working with youth.
  • Minimum 1 year Supervisory experience.
Prior to first day of work you must have:
  • Minimum Level 2 CSIA (Ski Instructor Certification) or CASI (Snowboard Instructor Certification) or equivalent.
Assets:
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of park facilities/services, especially Hidden Valley Ski Resort.
  • A sound knowledge of ski industry practice within a snow school environment.

  • 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays.
  • 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay.
NotesTerms of Employment:
  • Shifts are 8 hours a day, up to 40 hours a week.
  • Candidates must be willing to work weekends and holidays, varying start dates from December 1, 2022 until March 31, 2023, pending end of ski season and operational needs.
  • Multiple positions are available.
  • Various low-cost accommodations are available for rent in Elkwater.
  • There is no public transportation to the Ski Resort, You must have reliable transportation to and from work. The Ski Resort is located about 10 min from Elkwater and about 40 min from Medicine Hat.
