Job Description

The Supplier Quality Manager is responsible for the development, maintenance and improvement of an Industry Leading Supplier Quality Management Program. Creation and flow down of Procurement Package Documentation (SOW, DID, VDRL) to all of ISI Subcontractors to ensure customer requirements are met or exceeded. Negotiation with proponents and tailoring in ISI’s SOW and VDRLs as well as the overall responsibility to have processes in place to validate that Vendor Furnished Information satisfies all the requirements of the ISI DIDs. Development and Oversight of ISIs Inspection Processes (source and onsite), Development and monitoring the Supplier Audit Program (including follow-up actions). As nonconformances arise that were created due to vendors nonconformance to requirements, oversee that appropriate supplier Quality Specialists are assigned to resolve the root cause of the problem. Ensuring metrics are accurately flowed up to Snr. Management in a timely manner to enable data-driven decisions.

  • Maintain and update Procurement Package Materials (VDRL, DIDs, SOW) for the Quality Group for CSC
  • Support Critical Supplier Audits with specific SME product or process knowledge
  • Drive the development of processes from within the Supplier Quality team (eg. Inspection)
  • Assign and oversee NCRs within the supplier Quality Group (plan concurrence, final verification)
  • Clarify and negotiate the quality requirements with proponents during the contracting process in order to ensure proponents understand, and can meet ISIs requirements
  • Identify supplier risks and ensure mitigation plans are in place in order to respond appropriately to risks at the earliest opportunity.
  • Improve supplier performance through a combination of early establishment of expectations during quarterly reviews, supplier audits, inspections, NCRs, Supplier Root Cause Corrective Actions
Knowledge – education, certificates, licenses, registration, and knowledge required
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a progressive mid/snr. level management position
  • 7-10 years of practical experience
  • P. Eng Registration preferred
Technical Skills – required skills to apply knowledge
  • In-depth understanding and application of ISO 9001 principles and processes
  • A wide variety of technical background in electrical, mechanical, and marine materials, devices, and systems in a manufacturing environment
  • A basic understanding of application of Lloyd’s Naval ship Rules
  • An understanding of application of Naval Ship procurement including SOW, DIDs, and VDRL structure and content
