ARCTIC DIVIDE LODGE – LODGE CARETAKER – 14 days on/ 7 days off rotation / housing provided / Northern Residents Tax Allowance Prescribed A Zone ABOUT USArctic Divide Lodge is the premier place to stay on the Stewart-Cassiar Highway. We have 10 boutique & cozy lodge rooms and outbuilding rooms located in the centre of Dease Lake directly on Highway 37, open year-round. We are consistently rated by travellers as the top place to stay on the highway for both customer service and amenities. We are looking for the right candidate to maintain & improve on our status and ranking on the highway.Unlike other remote lodge operations, as a perk, we are fully connected to services including power (no generators), internet and phone service. Dease Lake is a small community of 250 people located in the top northwest corner of British Columbia only hours from the Yukon border. Dease Lake has a large grocery store, fuel station, year-round takeout restaurants and post office for its local supplies & services. We are remote but also connected at the same time to our community. The closest large urban centre is Terrace, British Columbia and Smithers, British Columbia at 590KM distance away, Whitehorse, Yukon is not too much further.Arctic Divide Lodge is a family-owned operation owned by Thea & Kurt Mehnert since 2020.THE ROLEKey areas of responsibility for the Lodge Caretaker including driving revenue to the operation with reservations and maintaining a four-star level of accommodation standards to guests. Ensuring revenue growth & positive review growth are paramount to the position. As a lodge caretaker, you will identify areas for growth and recommend improvements to the operation.During the winter months/slow season, the lodge caretaker is expected to be a part of all areas of the operation, not limited to front desk & housekeeping. During the busy season, management of a housekeeping team & assistant manager is paramount to success.The Lodge Caretaker must possess the ability to create and establish effective relationships with the community, guests, and other staff.A successful candidate is well rounded, generally outgoing and has good attention to detail to manage an operation. All other areas are trainable and lodge management experience is an asset but not necessary.SCHEDULEHousing is provided on-site in a private kitchen unit. Scheduling is camp style on either 14 days on/7 days off scheduling or 20 days on/10 days off scheduling. Great opportunity for those living in Whitehorse, Terrace or Smithers to be at home on their time off if they wish not to leave in Dease Lake year-round.RENUMERATIONRenumeration is based on experience, starting at $185 per day.
