Job Description

Our team is growing, and Marcon Metalfab is currently looking for an Structural Steel Checker. Responsibilities:

  • Your job responsibility as a Checker is to check detailed shop drawings and erection drawings.
  • Checking detailed shop drawings for miscellaneous steel and other products required for the construction of residential and commercial complexes.
  • Checking and verifying design drawings to conform to specifications and design data.
  • Conducting drawing checks at the Editing stage.
  • Ability to manage complex projects often with minimal details that require RFI’s and preliminary sketches to finalize design intent in conjunction with designers, engineers, and consultants.
  • Ensuring industry standards are being held.
  • Comprehension of engineering codes is required.
  • Reviewing product design for compliance with engineering principles and company standards.
  • Ensure final drawings and documents are in accordance with the project specifications, contract drawings, clients’ needs, the company’s standards, and all manufacturing limitations.
Requirements:
  • 5 years of experience as a Structural Steel Checker or +10 years of Structural steel detailing experience within any of the industries.
  • Experience preparing and checking detailed plans shop drawings, bills of material, and other documents for the manufacture and erection of steel members and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of both AISCamp; CISC standards.
  • Experience in assisting the detailing dept with project coordination, scheduling, and maintaining a high-quality level for all our manufactured products).
  • A thorough understanding of steel fabrication including welding, sheet metal forming techniques, CNC, and DXF files.
  • Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD, and familiarity with Structural steel 3D Modeling software.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office.

  • Must have a thorough understanding of structural steel detailing.
  • Willingness to develop knowledge relevant to the structural steel industry.
  • Organized with a high level of communication both written and verbal.
  • Strong design knowledge and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Possesses excellent people skills, is a good communicator, and is a motivational leader.
  • A proactive and logical thinker who takes initiative to solve problems early.
  • Capable of performing your duties with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment requiring multi-tasking and workflow prioritizing.
