Ref ID: 05050-0012445432Classification: VP/Director of FinanceCompensation: $57.00 to $90.00 hourlyOur client, a Financial Services organization, is seeking an Interim Director, Finance for 15-18 month contract (maternity leave coverage).Reporting to the VP, Finance, the Interim Director, Finance will provide leadership to the accounting team and have overall responsibility for the financial reporting, accounting processes and reporting systems, and regulatory reporting compliance. Additional responsibilities include maintenance of appropriate financial controls throughout the organization. Responsibilities:1. Financial Reporting

  • Preparation of quarterly and annual IFRS compliant financial statements meeting all OSFI and OSC requirements
  • Preparation of all OSC continuous disclosure requirements including Management Discussion and Analysis (MD amp; A) and Annual Information Form (AIF)
  • Oversight and management of all regulatory reporting requirements (OSFI filings, CDIC returns, Stats Can filings)
  • Monitoring emerging accounting (IFRS) and regulatory reporting issues (OSFI/OSC) and analysis of potential impact
  • Co-ordination of annual financial statement audit, internal audit and SOC audit
2. Monthly Close Process, Controls and Financial Systems
  • Maintenance of appropriate financial processes and procedures to ensure that all financial transactions are properly authorized, accurately recorded and completely captured
  • Maintenance of the monthly results close process ensuring it is efficient, producing accurate and timely results
  • Review, monitor and modify internal controls to ensure sufficient segregation of duties
  • Manage the books and records, including source journals for all sub-systems and general ledger
  • Manage the documentation of controls of the Bank including OSFI E-23
  • Responsible for managing the internal control over financial reporting in support of the CEO/CFO certification program
3. Accounting Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the accounting requirements of the following items related to Financial Institutions: mortgage effective interest rate, IFRS 9, derivatives, current and future income taxes, and options.
4. Enterprise Decision Support
  • Participation in strategic projects across the Bank.
  • Business and contribution analyses to highlight areas of strategic and tactical focus.
5. Direct Reports
  • Manage the Finance Department including all reviews and involvement in hiring as necessary
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties for the monthly processing ensuring efficient and accurate results.
Job Requirements:SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:•University Degree•Previous experience within Financial Services•Professional Accounting Designation, CPA (or international designation)•Strong knowledge of IFRS •Experience with Sage 300/ACCPAC is an asset•Familiarity with public company reporting standards, an asset•Previous experience acting as mentor, team leader and team builder•Strong attention to detail, prioritization, ability to work in dynamic/deadline driven environment•Excellent verbal and communication skills, a clear and professional communicatorWorking Conditions Unique to Job:•Hybrid office environmentIf you have the right experience for this role, please apply today.
