Schedule: 14 days in, followed by 14 days offRate of Pay: Salary, Commensurate with experience and qualificationsABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYBased at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Blast Supervisor to join our Mine Operations team reporting to the Drill and Blast Superintendent.Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential. The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt.The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.The Blast Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring adequate resources are available in order to meet blast production requirements.RESPONSIBILITIESYour responsibilities will include:Ensuring the safety of the team by applying a zero harm approach to all tasks performed;Planning, organizing, leading and controlling resources to ensure blast targets are met;Lead, monitor and allocate daily responsibilities of the blast crew;Meet or exceed production requirements while ensuring budget targets are met;Provide appropriate production reporting, ensuring identified grade control procedures are adhered to;Provide regular inspections of work sites in efforts of maintaining and promoting Health, Safety and Environmental practices to the workforce;Promote a climate of trust and participation.QUALIFICATIONSOur ideal candidate has:Minimum high school diploma or GED with extensive open pit experience;Technical or College Diploma preferred;Minimum five years’ experience in all components of open pit drilling and blasting operations;Minimum two years’ experience in an open pit supervisory role;Extensive knowledge and understanding of mines safety and inspections regulations;Strong business acumen and competent computer literacy skills (MS Office);Strong communication skills (verbal, written, listening and presentation).WHATS IN IT FOR YOUTogether, we are building a world-class gold mine and our success is determined by the hard work and dedication of our team.
