With the ability to self-perform across our diverse business offering, and a strategic fabrication network, Aecon Industrial proactively and profitably manages projects across a diverse range of industrial business areas, Renewable Energy, Natural Gas Distribution, Oil and Gas, Water, Mining, Cogeneration Energy, Chemical and Process plant.Aecon is seeking a 3D Designer to join our Industrial business group. Reporting to the IDD Director this position is in Edmonton. This role is responsible for providing 3D design, delivery, and technical support for 3D multi-disciplinary design coordination in SMARTPLANT3D, supporting and specification of, civil structural, electrical and control system components.What You #39;ll Do Here:

• Leading and developing for work groups and project teams for multiple 3D design work scopes,
• Providing 3D design work and technical support for process plant and mining projects across all design modelling disciplines in SMARTPLANT3D
• Responsible for the development of the 3D Model and 2D drawings while leading model design reviews with engineering teams and clients.
• Ability to work in and work with Smartplants various software applications - Smartplant3d, Smartplant Review, Smartplant Electrical, Spoolgen etc. And Experience of working with Smartplant MDCs (Model Data Containers).
• Develop and implement advanced work packaging (AWP) as required by client contracts.
• Ability to be a working lead for a project team of designers forming a multidisciplinary team.
• Provide conceptual front-end design and, final IFC material take-offs from client provided and Aecon enhanced 3D models, to support estimating, procurement, fabrication, and site installation.
• Designing and drafting of Piping, Civil structural, EC amp;I, Process items and auxiliary components in 2D and 3D drawing environments, for design, fabrication, and construction.
• Ability to interpret, update and produce engineering design drawings - PFDs, PIDs, SLDs, Isos.
• Ability to read, understand, and comment on manufacturer equipment drawings and specifications.
• Preparing and verifying designs with site and survey team, including creation of tie-in, and as built drawings
• Reviewing project documents for scope, presentation, and technical accuracy
• Providing project management skills including man-hour estimating, budget control and scheduling for the design team.
• Undertaking and supporting engineering management and supporting the integration of our onsite survey services and information into 3D models. (3D scanning technology) • Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple projects.

Who are you

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Related Discipline
• We are looking for multi-discipline talent, priority areas are electrical and/or structural and/or piping design experience.
• 3-5 years #39; experience in electrical or structural 3D Design
• Proven experience, knowledge, and high proficiency with SMARTPLANT3D, and AutoCAD 2D and design/drafting.
• CAD/PDMS/E3D Knowledge would be an asset.
• Experience and knowledge of Advanced Work Packaging, its management and implementation
• Sound understanding of design, engineering codes and technical standards, codes, guidelines, and engineering systems coordination.
• Site experience and excellent understanding of survey needs and 3D cloud point technology.
