Discover how you can make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities around the world.:The role of the EFPS Planning Director is to provide a superior quality of estate and financial planning services to affluent clients and to engage experienced advisors in more complex cases. This includes:

  • acting as a technical resource for advisors in support of providing comprehensive financial support to their clients
  • providing comprehensive financial planning toc clients via the Sun Life advisors
What will you do
  • Serving as an estate and financial planning services resource to advisors and financial centers where necessary and appropriate.
  • Contributing to Sun Life advisor sales results by acting as a technical resource in the area of advanced financial planning.
  • Acting as a technical resource to more junior EFPS specialists where required.
  • Delivering seminars/presentations on advanced planning topics.
  • Maintaining a current and thorough knowledge of estate and financial planning through research, attending industry related functions, etc.
  • While the role contributes to sales, this role is an advisory role that requires being kept at arms length from the sales role.
  • Planning employees are not commissioned sales people nor are they licensed to sell product. It is important that clients view their services as independent from the sales process.
  • Ability to foster and promote effective working relationships (eg. with advisors, District Directors, regional management teams, head office staff and co-workers).
  • Full competence in the use of EFPS and Sun Life financial planning support tools.
  • Demonstrated self-management skills.
  • Ability to travel and work with flexibility towards accommodating Advisors and their clients.
What do you need to succeed
  • 5 - 10+ years in a financial planning or related role and one or more of the following accreditations, CFP, CLU, CPA, LLB, TEP
  • A consistent record of quality service
  • Maintenance of a professional image
  • Strong knowledge of personal and corporate financial planning, including taxation
  • Excellent understanding of industry trends and their implication on achieving business objectives
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, including facilitation, training, influencing, presentation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
