TEAM LEAD, ACCESSIBILITY SUPPORTSSTUDENT SERVICESAt NorQuest, we are who we include, and we #39;re on a mission to create a true global community - a place of belonging for every learner, and we #39;re looking for someone to find ways forward, be compassionate, and be boldly curious and intentionally courageous as a Team Lead, Accessibility Supports.Reporting to the Manager, Accessibility, the Team Lead provides mentorship and direction to Accessibility Advisors and Instructional Assistants who directly support learners in becoming more independent and effective learners through the identification and provision of accommodations. The lead represents accessibility and students with disabilities, contributing to the college community as an expert on accommodations and their implementation in a post-secondary environment.Our Accessibility Services team is a group of passionate individuals who are working to make NorQuest a more inclusive space for all by removing barriers and introducing tools and resources to learners, allowing them to be at their best and we #39;re looking for someone with strong leadership and relationship building skills to come be a difference maker.HOW YOU #39;LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Supervise, evaluate, and recommend development opportunities for staff, contributing to an environment of team cohesiveness and engagement.
  • Implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in recruiting and selecting new staff for Accessibility Services.
  • Create performance metrics and service standards to monitor and improve student impact.
  • Participate in strategic planning.
  • Liaise with learners who express dissatisfaction with the services provided by Accessibility Services.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for accommodations.
  • Serve as an accommodations subject matter expert in collaboration with areas such as the Equity Office, Faculty, and Accommodated Exams.
  • Represent accessibility by participating on Learner Experience and college wide working groups and initiatives.
  • Form relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Collect, review, interpret, and manage student medical documentation of disabilities, ensuring that information is properly stored and available to meet reporting needs and support service improvements.
  • Adhere to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy legislation by ensuring all student information is treated with the appropriate level of security and confidentiality.
  • Exercise judgment in developing individual accommodation plans by synthesizing medical documentation and a student #39;s first-person experience of their disability.
  • Support students who are attempting to access the federal and provincial schedule 4 grant for students with permanent disabilities.
  • Respond to student and faculty inquiries and or concerns regarding accommodations.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Undergraduate degree, Master #39;s preferred.
  • 5+ years working with adults with disabilities in a post-secondary setting.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience working with and supporting individuals with an experience of a disability.
  • Experience leading teams that support adults with an experience of a disability.
  • Advanced knowledge of accommodations, trends, and the supports available for post-secondary students with an experience of a disability

SALARY: $67,798 - $88,037 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) and includes immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.We offer flexible work options.
