Understanding both EDC #39;s business and its human resources management is essential in developing and implementing communications activities that will support our 2030 strategy, influence employees #39; behaviors, uphold EDC #39;s core values and give back to the communities in which we live and serve. Acting as a catalyst to bring the full value of connections within the EDC ecosystem and to deploy powerful communication strategies that bring our human-centered employee value proposition to life is key.The Director provides effective leadership to ensure the development and implementation of superior internal and employee communications strategies and events including the annual employee conference and leadership communications and events. The Director #39;s team is responsible for delivering on strategic communications tactics and tools to raise awareness of EDC #39;s business, act as an enabler in building a customer-centric organization, propel a new two-way digital communications strategy and drive thought leadership through meaningful speeches, both internally and externally.This leadership position also requires an experienced, results-oriented team builder accustomed to advising senior management and delivering high quality communications management and solutions in a fast-paced and changing environment. In this role, working with key leaders and senior executives across the business and multiple corporate functions, such as HR and Marketing, to influence our communication approach will be fundamental to help them build Corporate Communications #39; reach and connection with colleagues across the enterprise.Responsibilities- Manage a team of internal communications, social media, speech writing and community investment professionals, providing guidance and mentorship.- Develop and implement an employee communications strategy that effectively informs and engages employees.- Champion and oversee communications and social media campaigns designed to promote customers, company culture, values, thought leadership and initiatives.- Ensure consistency and accuracy of messaging across all communication channels, including email, intranet, speech, and social media.- Develop and implement EDC #39;s annual strategic employee communications objectives and management of the key elements including the annual employee conference and digital experience.- Ensure a consistent and clear communication strategy across all aspects of the business, including corporate-wide emails, SharePoint, videos, social media, community investment, etc.- Oversee community investments and guide employees and management around a strategy that ensures positive returns in the communities where we work.- Develop measurable goals and key performance indicators for core areas that are clear, communicated, monitored, and reported on regularly.Screening Criteria- University degree, in communications, journalism, human resources, organizational development, psychology or a related field.- Previous experience as a communications director for a large organization would be a strong advantage.- Minimum eight to ten years #39; experience senior strategic communications planning in a government or corporate setting, ideally in the financial services sector and including experience in employee communications.- Minimum of five years #39; management and leadership experience and an ability to work with and influence senior management.- Knowledge and understanding of production of communications products and ability to work with external suppliers. Extensive experience with publishing, event planning, budgeting, and project management.- Proven leadership experienceSkillsamp; Knowledge- Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills and strong interpersonal and influencing skills are essential.- Excellent oral and written communications skills and commitment to quality and timeliness.- Fluency in both official languages is essential- Experience in leading inter-departmental teams- Strong orientation to customer service- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, in addition to the ability to manage competing priorities.- Energetic, motivated, self-starter who can inspire a team and influence senior management.- Strong understanding of human resource management, EDC, and its corporate objectives,- Strong project management skills and ability to handle competing deadlines and issues- Strong influencing abilities in advising and supporting executive and senior management.- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Assets- Experience in communications in a fast-paced business, private sector or government environment- Professional certification in communicationSalary Range:- Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $121,836 to $162,447 plus a performance-based incentive.Location- Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.- This role will be performed from EDC #39;s headquarters in Ottawa.- Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.EDC #39;s Commitment to Employment EquityEDC is committed to employment equity and achieving a diverse workforce.
