Job Description

Valard, is Canada’s premier utility contractor, as well as head of the Valard Group of Companies AND part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy. Valard Construction LP is looking to fill the positions of Journeymen Powerline Technicians and Apprentices to join our team at Drayton Valley, AB. We are looking for self-motivated, team player, dedicated individuals who are willing to work as part of a dynamic team that provides crucial support to Valard’s projects. Requirements

  • Qualified Red Seal Journeymen Powerline Technician.
  • Class 5 license minimum, preference given to 1amp; 3 license.
  • Experience in climbing wood pole structures.
  • Experience/training in craning and rigging.
  • 25kV Rubber Glove experience considered an asset.
  • First Aid and CPR.
  • Experience working on ATCO and Fortis utility systems.
  • Working at Heights.
  • Familiar with operating and maintaining various types of heavy equipment.
  • Experience in maintenance and construction of distribution lines, coupled with the ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Qualified switchman for ATCO and Fortis systems considered an asset.
  • Willing to travel and work extended hours.
  • Safety oriented.
  • Positive Attitude and good work ethic.
