Job Description

Job Title: Healthamp; Safety Manager – ICI Construction TorontoCompany Overview: Our client is a reputable construction firm specializing in Institutional, Commercial, and Light Industrial projects. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Healthamp; Safety Manager to join our team and help us maintain our high standards of safety excellence.Position Overview: As the Healthamp; Safety Manager, you will be responsible for implementing and managing comprehensive health and safety programs to ensure the well-being of our employees, subcontractors, and the public. You will collaborate closely with project teams to identify and mitigate potential hazards, promote a culture of safety, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the safety performance of our organization and contribute to the success of our projects.Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, develop, and manage health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with local, provincial, and federal regulations and industry best practices.
  • Update and maintain our existing COR certification.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams on health and safety matters, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.
  • Hire and train Health and Safety staff.
  • Coordinate safety training programs for employees and subcontractors, ensuring all personnel are adequately trained to perform their work safely and effectively.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, inspections, training, and compliance activities.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies, clients, and other stakeholders on safety-related matters, ensuring open communication and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to continuously improve the effectiveness of our health and safety programs.
  • Champion a culture of safety excellence throughout the organization, promoting awareness, engagement, and accountability at all levels.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in the construction industry.
  • NCSO and/or COR/ISO Internal Auditor certification strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective health and safety programs and initiatives.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver #39;s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
