Job Description

The Canadian Brewhouse Group is seeking an experienced Accountant with a strong background in accounting principles and practices. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience, a CPA designation, and a degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (BCom). Experience in the hospitality sector, including restaurants, bars, and hotels, will be considered a significant asset.Responsibilities:

  • Perform month-end close procedures including reconciliation of accounts and investigation of discrepancies
  • Maintain accounting practices, processes, and internal controls to ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting standards
  • Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports to management
  • Prepare year-end working papers, liaise with auditors, and provide necessary documentation as required
  • Support the preparation of corporate tax returns and ensure compliance with local and federal tax regulations
  • Ensure compliance with provincial and federal government reporting requirements, filings and related payments, including GST/PST
  • Support the operations department with routine finance tasks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes and identify areas for improvement
  • Perform trend, variance, sensitivity, and other ad-hoc financial analysis and modelling
  • Provide leadership to accounting technicians and accounting clerks, assisting with appropriate accounting treatment of transactions
  • Other special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (BCom).
  • CPA designation required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry (restaurants, bars, hotels) is preferred.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
