Job Description

Job Title: Senior Digital Architect Location: Edmonton, Alberta, RemoteSeniority on the skill/s required on this requirement: Senior Estimated Duration: 12 months with possible extension for another 24 monthsWork authorization: any (candidate must be authorized to work in CA) Job Summary:The Client requires a Digital Architect, Data to work with 3D on service innovation, program review and digital transformation projects. The Digital Architect, Data will work as part of cross-functional program review or product delivery teams. These teams, led by product owners and 3D work collaboratively and collectively participate in a full range of activities including: field research, backlog definition and refinement, and sprint planning and execution. Digital transformation projects review the current state of services, identify future opportunities, and then deliver new services that are efficient, effective and affordable.Responsibilities:

  • Lead the solution architecture of digital services by: Developing the overall architectural plan, ensuring a citizen-centered design and agile software approach; Uncovering existing system context; Providing recommendations and prototypes for technical discovery and feasibility; Providing and being accountable for the solution designs that account for iterative implementation; and Analyzing impacts, exposure, and risk as it pertains to the solution design.
  • Guide the team in the implementation of digital services by: Facilitating frequent delivery of products to ensure that the target architecture is successfully created; Determining the tactical approach on each integration and the target state of system boundaries and interactions; Identifying opportunities to leverage common components and capabilities of other digital services; Encouraging team contribution towards developing opportunities to leverage other digital services; Providing guidance on the creation of detailed designs for solution implementation; Reviewing code changes; Contributing to code changes in order to implement user stories and to complete technical tasks; and Providing coaching and mentorship to the product team.
  • Contribute to the architectural vision for a platform of user-centric services, particularly as it relates to the use of common components and capabilities to accelerate service delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of principles, metrics, and standards for service quality and delivery.
  • Provide software architecture information to technical and non-technical audiences by creating materials (documents, diagrams, presentations, etc.) appropriate to the audience.
  • Actively participate in the development and continuous improvement of the architecture practice.
Requirements:Must have:
  • The proposed resource must meet or exceed one of the following: University graduation in computer science, IT or a related discipline and 2-yr related experience OR 2-yr diploma in computer science, IT or a related discipline and 4-yr related experience; OR 1-yr certificate in computer science, IT or a related discipline and 5-yr related experience OR10-yr related experience.
  • Experience as a data architect, software architect, or senior data engineer, where the proposed resource #39;s focus has been collaborative work on and/or with cross-functional teams to create new software applications
  • Experience conveying technical information to non-technical people and advising decision-makers on technical options.
  • Experience in leading solution architecture and introducing the overall technical vision for a large-scale Enterprise projects with integrations between systems.
  • Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and the ability to leverage them to build scalable and resilient architectures.
  • Experience working as a software architect on complex software solutions in an agile team environment.
  • Experience working in software development across the full software development lifecycle
  • Experience working with open source ecosystems such as Node.js/NPM.
  • Experience leading domain modelling and database schema design for transactional and reporting systems.
Nice to have:
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps in an enterprise environment
  • Experience incrementally transforming existing legacy systems into modern digital services across multiple releases.
  • Experience working as an application architect designing or maintaining solutions that use the development stack and derivative technologies (Microsoft .Net, Java, Python, etc.)
  • Experience working as a senior technical resource identifying and advocating technologies and approaches that lead to digital transformation in the public sector context.
  • Experience working with teams that also apply UX design, service design, design thinking, or human-centered design approaches.
  • Experience working as an architect using data analytics tools and methodologies to derive insights from data
  • Experience working with other architects and/or as part of cross-functional teams to identify efficiencies through common services, reusable components and application programming interfaces (APIs), and contribute to the overall architecture practice designing and implementing application programming interfaces (APIs) and system integrations.
