Your Opportunity:As the Middleware Lead, North Zone, you will be part of a collaborative and innovative team, leading Alberta Health Services on a journey to modernize legacy medical systems with the latest technology and sustain a fleet of over 100 medical middleware systems. Who You’ll Work With: Working under the guidance and mentorship of the Manger of Middleware Services & North Zone Director Clinical Engineering, you will support a robust team of biomedical engineers and IT-Analysts in supporting applications, software and services to the North zone. What You’ll Do: Build and Operationalize New Systems. Own and manage the end-to-end build of systems, engaging clinical, IT, Biomedical and vendor partners as required. Implements, tests and remediates where required non-functional requirements (HA, backup, Alerting, DR, Controls). Ensures success in building and migrating applications, software, and services as required. Configure and Enhance Existing Systems. Maintain and support the configuration of various medical Infrastructure systems. Support and implement systems upgrade. Optimize and support our existing Middleware and Tools Technology in local and datacenter based solutions. Minimize system integration complexity while maintaining system reliability and business continuity objectives. Plan own work to meet given objectives and processes. Remain current on operation system administration procedures and best practices, and ensures learning is documented and disseminated to the broader team. Update knowledge of accepted industry and company standards to improve service delivery. Collect data and delivers reports on medical technology and technology processes.Description:The Middleware Services team is responsible for delivering medium to large scale provincial solutions that enable the exchange of data from medical devices to the Clinical Information System (CIS). This occurs across all areas of medicine, integrated across the entire AHS continuum of care. From diagnostics and internal medicine, to obstetrics, surgery, anesthesiology, laboratory and pediatrics, medical device middleware is used to ensure timely data is available to inform clinical decision making. The Lead, Clinical Systems Support (CSS) is accountable for the maintenance and enhancement of middleware solutions at AHS within a particular zone, including leading and influencing multiple interdisciplinary teams to deliver effective solutions that have a high level of strategic importance, external stakeholder engagement and risk. The Lead, Clinical Systems Support (CSS) is responsible for the following: Plan, organize, schedule, and supervise the day-to-day technical support activities, including troubleshooting, customer service issues, approvals, and installations. Maintains application release schedules and ensures alignment across key partners and stakeholders. Actively manages interdependencies, resources and task level priorities between projects and operational work Communicates, manages expectations, and represents AHS interest to interdisciplinary stakeholders Monitors operational initiatives’ progress against standards, timelines, plans and budgets. Leads efforts in executing middleware configuration management, vendor management, problem mitigation, change management, and critical situation management for mission-critical systems. Provides consultation and technical solutions to management on complex systems integration, compatibility, expandability, ease of use, and multiple platform issues as they relate to middleware.
