Job Description

We are hiring for a Maintenance Manager in Elora, ON. JOB PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of plant equipment, reducing downtime and costs. Provide support to production activities by demonstrating leadership and guidance for maintenance personnel as well as providing support for our H amp;S program. You are expected to Coordinate and supervise the activities of skilled and unskilled maintenance workers. Examples include ensuring proper methods and procedures are followed to maintain, repair, and service equipment, buildings, and facilities in compliance with building codes and safety standards. Maintain production equipment in a manner that meets organization standards and ensures minimum equipment downtime. Inspect projects to ensure conformity to specifications, direct safety inspections, and preventive maintenance programs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety champion- Help identify and resolve safety issues - Any A hazards to be addressed immediately, B hazards to be addressed within 24 hrs.
  • Ensure all maintenance operations are done in accordance with the company policy, OHSA, manufacturers guidelines, best practices, and all applicable standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety throughout the facility.
  • Ensure all staff follow safety policies and contractor management Quantify repetitive equipment failures and recommend cost-effective permanent solutions.
  • Coordinate improvement activities with other departments ensuring downtime is minimized and production schedules are considered before shutting down equipment.
  • Participate in equipment design reviews.
  • Responsible for maintaining stock of inventory of materials, parts, and specialized tools for the maintenance function.
  • Ensure the requirements of ISO 9001 and QMS are conformed with.
  • Complete performance evaluations for all maintenance employees.
  • Ensure appropriate parts and supplies are available to properly maintain essential equipment and uptime.
  • Maintain and direct all Preventive and Predictive Maintenance activities.
  • Arrange for quotes from contractors.
  • Timeliness in this regard is an expectation.
  • Oversee, mentor, and direct all Maintenance staff.
  • Department champion to ensure all contractors have appropriate documentation in order.
  • Ensure the requirements of ISO 9001 and QMS are conformed with.
  • All other duties as required.
SKILLS, EDUCATION, COMPUTERamp; EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Good mechanical and basic electrical knowledge.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office and Excel skills.
  • Minimum of five years in a maintenance machining environment and two years as a supervisor or equivalent.
  • Read completed inspection forms to ensure all maintenance, repair, and inspection tasks have been adequately completed by their workers.
  • Study assembly drawings for equipment to determine what parts are required and how they go together.
  • Speak with their managers and supervisors to explain the progress of jobs and to obtain instructions and tasks. Discuss ongoing work with workers they employ and supervise.
  • Establish work schedules and shift priorities and appointments to accommodate emergencies and cancellations.
  • Determine how best to organize work to meet deliverables and timelines of team-based projects while supervising multiple job assignments.
  • Use judgment and experience to coordinate and integrate job tasks with other workers and to decide job priorities.
  • Prioritize tasks to maintain efficiency.
  • Develop and monitor detailed overhaul, repair, and preventive maintenance schedules for shop tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Develop and monitor operating and project budgets.
  • Ability to work independently to provide professional guidance and oversight to maintenance and installation tasks and projects.
  • Assume a wide variety of roles to coordinate job tasks with those of junior workers, co-workers, and subcontractors.
  • Intermediate knowledge of all applicable Microsoft and other software applications.
  • Maintain continuous learning to be kept up to date with new technologies, new information, and regulatory changes within the industry.
  • Learn about new products and technologies by reading manuals, magazines, and other materials at work, through on-the-job experience, and through discussions with workers.
  • Knowledge of fire alarm system: Sprinkler, Ontario fire code.
  • Usage of paretos for failure analysis and diagnostic.
  • 5 years or more experience in a maintenance and supervisory role.
  • All relevant training courses such as MOL training.
  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Journeyman/woman trade certification in a relevant trade is required.
