The successful candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and be self-starting and able to work independently. Using these skills, the employee will work with various stakeholders including operation to maintain and improve our control systems for the entire K2 site. The role is also tasked with planning, purchasing, and installing required replacements or upgrades to ensure the continued reliable operation of the control system including network, server, and HMI infrastructure. The Automation coordinator will help to integrate new automation and control assets into our existing systems. Finally, the role is required to troubleshoot technical and performance issues as they arise to help the site meet its production targets.What will you be working on

  • Ensure regulatory, corporate and site safety and environmental standards are being followed by conducting safety audits, risk assessments and housekeeping tours.
  • Maintenance repair planning, operational inventory control and material management: The Planning Coordinator - Automation will determine adjustments to stock and setup of inventory including consignment. The planner orders, stages and stores all direct order items.
  • Work as part of project teams to scope work and coordinate/execute any changes to the control system required for project implementation.
  • The planner is charged with maintaining any procedures, keeping asset notes, and ensuring all assets are in their proper location within the work management system.
  • Use backlog management for tracking purposes to manage multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Assist researching and implementing new devices focused on automation of our current process utilizing our management of change process.
  • Collaborate on control system design developments and changes to advance the automation of processes within the Surface Operations.
  • Implements successful control strategies with the process engineering department, production, and the maintenance group. Negotiates resolutions to potential conflicting situations; utilizes engineering principles and knowledge to complete work and make recommendations to Operations management.
  • Balance’s participation in multiple teams as member and team leader; initiates presentations and communicates effectively at all levels of the organization as well as with suppliers, third party contractors, and customers.
What is required for this role
  • Journeyperson in Instrumentation or Technical diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining industrial process control systems preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience in Industrial Maintenance environment preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and update P&ID and electrical drawings
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to learn and follow the Mosaic Esterhazy Maintenance Work- Flow Model.
  • Advanced knowledge of PLC Programming:
    • Working knowledge of all IEC 61131-3 Programming languages
    • Rockwell Control Logix PLC and Allen Bradley PLC5
    • Rockwell E3+ and E300 Relays
  • Network Infrastructure:
    • Understanding VLANs and implementation
    • Network architecture and design (REP, Ether channel, industrial wireless)
    • Cisco CLI proficiency
  • Server infrastructure:
    • Working knowledge of Windows virtual server environments
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Server environment
    • Active directory and group policy experience
  • Communications:
    • Proficient with industrial communication protocols
    • Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Modbus
  • HMI:
    • Knowledgeable with High Performance HMI best practices
    • Ignition HMI proficiency - Inductive University certification preferred
    • Rockwell Factory Talk View
  • Programming:
    • Python and Javascript experience ideal
  • Database:
    • InfluxDB, Microsoft SQL, MySQL
  • Alarm management:
    • Experienced with alarm management principles and ISA 18.2
    • Understanding of methods used in alarm rationalization
  • Other:
    • Powerflex VFD Experience
    • Knowledge of ISA 5.1 tag naming standards
  • Must be able to work and communicate effectively with Engineering, Maintenance Management, hourly employees, and outside vendors.
  • Able to work overtime as required.
  • Knowledge of MAXIMO preferred.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity security and the implications of bad cybersecurity practices
  • Able to work in tight or closed-in spaces.
  • Able to lift approximately 0-25 lbs. unassisted and regularly.
  • Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others.
  • Able to climb stairs and work at various heights.
  • Employment is subject to successfully completing Mosaics pre-employment checks including criminal, drug, and alcohol testing.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
