Job Description

The WestCorp Team is looking for a Project Coordinator/Execution Manager for our Potash Client in Estherhazy, SK. The successful individual should have experience overseeing contractors and ideally will have a background in potash mining, with underground mine experience, project management and coordinating.Role Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for project file set up and activity cost coding, preparation and distribution of job packages to facilitate field operations, maintain safety and other project documentation in file.
  • Monitor sub-contractors for compliance, including review and enforcement of sub-contractor checklist and report any violations to the Manager.
  • Review planned work at the beginning of each shift with respective foreman and set / agree to targeted results for that shift.
  • Ensure sub-contractor performing their scope of work to design standards and specifications.
  • Work in partnership with the Contractor’s Supervision and Foremen to ensure the success of the Project
  • Promote a team atmosphere with all Project personnel
  • Ensure that deviations to the work schedule are identified and are being addressed by the Contractor / owner crew
  • Assist in troubleshooting areas of concern and in formulating plans to alleviate or mitigate problems
  • Acts as a company representative at all site meetings and as a point of contact for field level questions regarding a project.
  • Post-Construction Support in conjunction with the Owner, architect-engineers, and construction contractors
  • Monitoring and controlling daily project performance to maintain cost, schedule, scope and quality.
  • Performs required regulatory compliance checks, job observations and actively participates in the 4 key safety priorities.
  • Ensure that safe work habits are enforced and instruct safe methods of doing work.
  • Assist Project Engineers, as required, in coordinating daily execution activities including quality assurance and quality control activities.
  • Managing change requests through the Integrated Change Control procedure.
  • Ensure daily LEMS are accurate, signed, and submitted to project manager, as required.
  • Host daily line-out/coordination meetings for project contractors involved with execution.
  • Communicating execution progress weekly to the project manager.
  • Work with Project Engineering, providing administration of the construction contract.
  • Evaluate, recommend for approval, and process payment applications with Owner purchasing department.
  • Chair and minute weekly site progress meetings
  • Cause the Engineer and Contractor to action their punch listing of their work as it proceeds.
  • Assist in the Certificate of Occupancy and any other regulatory approvals from Authorities.
  • Settle any outstanding claims on the project, related to contracts.
  • Coordinate close out documentation for the project.
  • Oversee and manage all construction activities on a day-to-day basis.
  • Act on behalf of Owner, always.
Qualifications:
  • Journeyman Trade background or Degree in mechanical or industrial systems engineering with two to four years of related experience or equivalent education / experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Motivated, self-starter who can work well independently or within a team environment
  • An effective communicator with the ability to develop positive working relations across a multitude of business units
  • Exercises good judgment on complex decisions
