Job Description

Subsidiary: Miller Paving LimitedLocation: Etobicoke, ONWhat Does an Apprentice - 310T Truck and Coach DoThe Apprentice, 310T Truck and Coach will be responsible for the inspection of company vehicles, and performing basic repairs and shop maintenance. As an Apprentice, you will be working under our experienced Mechanics to learn the trade and advance your career knowledge.As an Apprentice 310T Truck and Coach, You Will:

  • Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviours at all times in support of Miller/MSO’s Health and Safety Policy, Programs and initiatives
  • Read diagrams/schematics and manufacturers repair manuals for work procedures in order to understand and perform basic repairs per the manufacturer’s specifications
  • Follow company-created checklists to inspect and test vehicles
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance on our truck and heavy equipment fleet
  • Assists in maintaining operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by performing preventive maintenance in a timely manner
  • Learn repair techniques under the supervision of the Mechanic
  • Test vehicles before and after repair procedures
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and organization
What Youll Bring
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Willing to pursue the 310T Truck & Coach Technician’s License
  • 310S automotive experience and heavy equipment experience, will be considered an asset
  • Welding experience would be considered an asset
  • A mechanical aptitude and desire to learn would be considered your two greatest assets
  • Must have a valid G drivers license and be familiar with both manual and automatic transmission types
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Comprehend and follow written and spoken directions and work in a safe & efficient manner
  • Physical ability and mobility to work in a shop and commercial yard environment; carry moderate to heavy amounts of weights; operate assigned equipment and vehicles
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Enjoy working in a team environment and be a strong team player
  • Available to work extended hours, weekends and holidays as needed
