Job Description

Tayco is looking for an ambitious Commercial Space Designer to join our dynamic team to help us reach a new vision. We are looking for someone who is aligned with our core values of Ownership, Progressive, Efficient, and Enjoyable Experiences.Responsibilities Tayco is seeking a Commercial Space Designer to provide our customers with design solutions, product recommendations, and pricing information in a timely manner. The Commercial Space Designer strives to increase company sales and customer satisfaction, and works closely with the sales team to grow existing customers and develop new customer base. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Contact the Customer to gather project information, specification, and requirements in order to recommend specific products or solutions.
  • Plan 2D and 3D drawings, coloured renderings and prepare parts list based on the information provided / gathered.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of Tayco’s offerings and finishes in order to competently facilitate the order process.
  • Maximize sales and Customer satisfaction through quotation process. Proactively recommend items needed by customers to increase customer satisfaction and improve transaction profitability.
  • Present the customer with final drawings, pricing and any other additional information related to the specific project.
  • Works collaboratively with Sales Team, Purchasing and Engineering Team as necessary; Coordinates with Customer Service and Order Analysts for the smooth transition from quote to order.
Requirements
  • Degree, Diploma, or Certificate from a post-secondary institution; or two years experience in any of the following: Interior Design, Industrial Design, or any related field.
  • Knowledge of the industry, space planning, and entire order process is recommended.
  • Must have knowledge of computers and related programs including AutoCAD and CET. Experience and knowledge of 20-20 and Giza is considered an asset.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel/Lotus, experience using E-mail and other rendering software or other related programs.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and re-create documents such as Architectural Drawings/Floor Plans and written specifications.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Has an understanding of basic geometry and basic algebra.
  • Has the ability to be highly effective at prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Is energetic, self-motivated, and results-oriented. Has the ability to work both independently and in a group setting.
  • Has effective customer service and communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization and individuals external to the organization, especially customers.
