Job Description

Title:ControllerSalary: CAD 120,000-140,000Location: Etobicoke, ON.HybridWho We Are:CannMart is a Canadian Licensed Cannabis Producer and one of only few BHO Extraction spaces in Canada, offering a state-of-the-art facility located in Etobicoke, Ontario. CannMart was Canada’s first sales-only non-production license, before entering the market with house-made products in 2021 including Roilty, BHO extracts and vapes, as well as Rilaxe dried-fruit edibles, a conscious alternative to cannabis confectionary.Who You Are: Reporting to the CEO, the Controller will help provide in depth financial analysis to the business.Our ideal candidate comes with a CPA/CMA profile and a sound understanding of costingamp; analysis, OpExamp; CapEx budgeting, and revenue allocation by business unit.If you have experience solving complex business problems and holding business leaders accountable to budgets and forecasts through open, honest, and direct dialogue, then this is the right opportunity for you. Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to the finance team in the preparation of monthly journal entries, accruals, GL closing, balance sheet reconciliations and other month/quarter/year activities
  • Prepare monthly financial reports along with a narrative for management ensuring the integrity of the financial statements.You will lead the monthly analysis of actuals vs. budget and prior years
  • Prepare detailed profit and loss statement analysis with focus on gross profit, provide recommendations for productivity, profit improvement and cost containment activities
  • Oversee the cash management functions and ensure inter-company accounts are reconciled
  • Oversee the monthly/annual tax filing requirements and monthly remittances to the government in multiple jurisdictions
  • Lead the preparation of the annual budget and monthly/quarterly forecasts across all functions and provide ongoing assessments of financial performance against these plans
  • Ensure the reliability and effectiveness of internal controls over financial processes
  • Create full financial transparency to all stakeholders and recommend appropriate courses of action when results differ from plan.
  • Understand the business, operations, key drivers, and success factors.
  • Challenge mgt. and staff to drive operational efficiencies and accurate forecasting.
  • Focus on cost controllingamp; reduction initiatives and ensure that unfavourable variances are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Prepare/review quarterly external financial statements and MD amp;A;
  • Review and present weekly KPI metrics to Sr. Management;
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages
  • Lead and coordinate annual external audits, CRA audits and other regulatory requests
Qualifications:
  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required
  • A minimum of 3 years of broad and progressively responsible experience as a Controller of 5plus years working as a Senior Analyst
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Quickbooks
  • Experience in the Cannabis industry considered an asset
  • M amp;A experience and startup business experience considered an asset
  • Experience with forecasting and budgeting process
  • Strong business acumen
  • Outstanding communication and strong work ethic and professional integrity
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence to hold business leaders accountable to budgets and forecasts
  • A detailed orientation with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills, and ability to clearly present quantitative and qualitative information to all levels of management
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to collaborate with multiple divisions in the company
  • Proven experience collaborating with sales and supply chain teams
