We are an engaging bunch with wide-ranging interests – photography, hiking, crafting, baking (and sampling baking), pets, gardening, and debating the best books, TV shows, and films, to name but a few.The Library seeks an innovative and techie’ liaison librarian for the College’s North campus to support teaching, learning, and research in the Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness and with Research and Innovation. A central part of the role is teaching information and digital literacy competencies to learners based on course learning outcomes and in consultation with instructors, with the goal of integrating and scaffolding content throughout curricula. With a focus on active learning and student engagement, the Librarian uses teaching methods and develops learning objects grounded in the Universal Design for Learning framework. Teaching modalities may range from in-person synchronous learning to hybrid and online asynchronous modules.In collaboration with Research and Innovation, the Librarian will support researchers by sharing best practices in literature searches, citation management, and publishing. The incumbent will also assist in implementing Humber’s research data management strategy, including providing support for data management plans (DMPs).The Librarian is part of the research help team, assisting students, faculty, and staff with accessing and using library resources via our in-person, video, and chat/text (askON) service points. The incumbent accommodates individual and small group consultations with students and faculty who require research assistance. Developing and maintaining collections in all formats, and completing library assessments for new and renewed programs, in assigned liaison areas are also part of the role. The Librarian builds relationships with faculty and administrators to facilitate awareness of library services and to learn about library-related needs and opportunities for collaboration. Working with the librarian and library administrative teams, the incumbent participates in service delivery and content development outside their liaison areas to support students’ academic success (e.g. academic integrity and citation supports). Leading and participating in departmental and college committees is also part of this role. The Librarian shapes their teaching, collections, and research help practices using the core values of equity, diversity, and inclusion throughout.What you bring to the role:The successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Studies from an American Library Association accredited institution. Advanced knowledge of information and digital literacy skill development in post-secondary education is essential. At least three years professional experience delivering information literacy and research help services as an academic liaison is strongly desired. A health or related undergraduate degree would be a strong asset, as would experience supporting researchers, and knowledge of Blackboard, Adobe Rush, and/or H5P. Additional qualifications include: a strong aptitude for technology; excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills; strong problem solving, advocacy, project management, relationship building, and interpersonal skills; a proven commitment to customer experience and to working in a collaborative and collegial team environment; the demonstrated ability to multi-task a variety of responsibilities and projects, and adaptability within a variety of professional contexts.What’s In it for you
