We are a collaborative team that welcomes innovation, upholds a culture of inclusiveness and respect, and supports wellness.Visit www.humber.ca for more information.Manager, CommunicationsRole ProfileUnder the direction of the Deputy Registrar, Business Support, the Manager, Communications provides a proactive approach to the planning and development of communication plan, tools, and strategies to support the goals of the Office of the Registrar and the College as a whole.The incumbent is responsible for visioning, researching, writing, and editing content for a variety of communication tools and channels. This includes, but is not limited to, the College and Registrar’s Office websites, social media, and email. The incumbent is also responsible for the development of materials for production relating to the student lifecycle including recruitment, admission, and registration in both print & electronic format for current and/or prospective students.Additional responsibilities include:
  • Developing and implementing strategic communication plans to proactively communicate with current and prospective students, and collaborating with college stakeholders to identify communication gaps and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Researching, writing & editing student-focused content for: print and electronic distribution, website publication, communication campaigns, campus events and social media.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of communication strategies and tactics in order to make future improvement and increase effectiveness;
  • Analyzing data to determine and ensure the effectiveness of executed communication plans and tools
  • Monitoring the website for currency & efficient client usability; monitoring enquiry email and social media for student concerns and opportunities; and monitoring enrolment trends and recruitment strategies for incorporation into communication initiatives and strategies.
QUALIFICATIONSEducationThe successful candidate will have a four-year Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or equivalent.Experience and SkillsThe incumbent will have a minimum of 5 years of related work experience. Additional skills include:
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrate initiative, organization, and analytical skills, research skills
  • Excellent proofreading skill and meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of technology and associated software (Data Analytics and Business Analytics, Microsoft Office, CRM, Content Management software, Adobe, PhotoShop, Illustrator, and an understanding of the application of Java/Flash).
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities and deadlines while demonstrating confidence and good judgment.
  • Sound knowledge of AODA compliance standards.
  • Training or experience in website design and navigation, graphic design, social media, etc.
  • Familiar with marketing, communication and recruitment strategies for post-secondary education.
