Job Description

The HR advisor plays a key role in attracting qualified candidates and rigorously screen for the best candidate for the current position and future opportunities. Ability to apply HR tools such as behavioral based interviewing and scoring systems to make objective recommendations. Industry knowledge in order to promote strengths will play a key role in effectively recruiting and retaining drivers and other candidates.The HR advisor works closely with the company #39;s management to implement positive changes in the company #39;s policies and procedures where necessary. They also create and present reports on the new strategies and practices to keep the company executives up-to-date at all times. These reports usually contain the advisor #39;s suggestions for improving the company #39;s human resources department.Responsibilities / Tasks:1. Selection and recruitment of drivers:

  • Work closely with management to ensure their Human Resource needs are understood and met.
  • Manage the hiring and selection process. Ensure compensation guidelines are respected.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are up to date and supportive of department’s objectives and legislative obligations.
2. Recording of data:
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates of the following:
    • Open personnel, maintenance, memo files;
    • Enter all Master Files information in the computer; (XTL Database)
    • Enter all changes in driver and unit status;
3. HR responsibilities:
  • Implement and administer employee policies
  • Identify ways to improve policies and procedures
  • Prepare termination and disciplinary letters
  • Manage work accidents (WCB) – claim management – investigation/recommendations for improvement / contest if should be
  • Perform administrative work, including scheduling, maintaining files for the Human Resources department
  • Track and update hourly employee leaves of absence – reporting / sharepoint
  • Looking after the hiring process, including submitting job postings online and scheduling candidate interviews
  • Onboarding, Labor relations, Employee relations, review and implementations of work place policies
  • Monitor key recruiting metrics, like turnover and retention rates / the type hires that we attract (demographic)
  • Answering all human resources queries posed by management and employees
  • Training and advising managers on strategies for recruitment, selection, and interview evaluation procedures.
  • Assisting with the development of recruitment campaigns.
  • Discussing terms and conditions of employment and benefits with staff members.
  • Reviewing employees #39; work progress using an employee evaluation and making recommendations, if necessary.
  • Conduct benchmarking for better understanding of the market
  • Updating HR policies in line with current legislation and informing senior manager about changes
  • Looking after disciplinary actions.
4. Healthamp; Safety: Responsible for the overall Health and Safety ProgramHealthamp; Safety
  • Oversee and chair the Safety Committee for assigned terminal
  • Appoint and direct the safety committee members.
  • Ensure inspections and incident reviews focus on claim prevention
  • Particularly in areas that we #39;ve experienced injury or incidents of concern
  • Elevate issues of concern

  • With the help of the HR Director - Responsible for audits of the Terminal
5.Talent Management:
  • Work closely with management to ensure their Human Resource needs are understood and met.
  • Analyze Exit Reports and make recommendations concerning retention and employee satisfaction.
6. Other responsibilities
  • Manage events and job fairs
  • Participate / Organize Corporate events and shows (responsible to promote the Company and all its benefits);
  • Participate in meetings between HR and Op #39;s with mandate to create a respectful environment that makes us a productive employer of choice;
  • Follow-ups with the Exit Reports to be able to analyze the reasons why employees quit and be able to make recommendations.
