The primary objective is to improve the value of all company assets through increased reliability and lower operating costs while allowing the operation of the equipment to meet production requirements within budget guidelines.Responsibilities:Contribute to safety culture and tackle specific actions to ensure health and safety prevention during maintenance activities.Guarantee and foster compliance with OH&S and environment policies for all maintenance personnel and contractors.Contribute to plant housekeeping and cleanliness. Provide technical assistance and leadership in ensuring chronic spillage is tackled and corrected.Participate in plant team-based safety activities and initiatives.Improve the efficiency, consistency and productivity of the cement manufacturing process by conducting analysis of problematic equipment. Works with the Maintenance team and Operations group to prioritize, develop and implement solutions.Works within the Continuous Improvement Teams resolving mid and long term initiatives ensuring objectives are met, provides process technical evidence to support improvement initiatives.Defines specifications for modified equipment/installations with consultation with key stakeholders (E.g. Production, Process, OEM Suppliers, contractors) under supervision of the Maintenance Manager Engineer.Develop and document business cases establishing clear cost and benefit relationshipLead and develop process and manufacturing improvement proposals. Write CRs and ARs when needed. Once proposals are approved, be able to efficiently implement the projects. Interface with vendors, contractors, and engineering firms whose functions are to provide project support with engineering and technical know-how associated with capital project installations.Provide area coordinators, supervisors, and other support staff with technical guidance and advice on all areas of cement manufacturing equipment in accordance to design standards, maintenance best practices, and the application of new technology.Assist in planning and guiding critical corrective maintenance activities as directed by the Maintenance Manager.Coordination and consultation with rCIP North America Maintenance and Technology, suppliers and contractors to identify cost effective solutionsConduct the necessary activities to maintain and improve the condition of the installations/assets and to assure proper functioning of equipment and systems.Effectively manage specific components of the Maintenance Program. Specific duties include improving compressed air quality, ensuring compressor preventive maintenance and overhaul are complete, and implementing improvements to reduce maintenance and operational costs on compressed air.Assist in the development of the Major Maintenance Plan with the Maintenance Manager and PM department.Develop improvement solutions based on root cause failure analysis and system performance analysis.Execute improvement actions through the use of internal labor and contractors.Provide training to operations personnel (production, process, quality, environmental, maintenance) on safety procedures, work procedures and the maintenance of cement equipment.Investigates chronic problems and provides engineering solutions to support the plant in daily activities and short-term projectsAssists the Maintenance Manager with the preparation of maintenance budgets ensuring technical justification of maintenance operationsPerforms monthly gap analysis of maintenance budget and performance indicators.Actively participates in Process Audits conducted by the Process Department.Relationships with others/jobs:Maintenance ManagerOperations, Production, Process DepartmentsHourly TradespeopleSuppliers and ContractorsQualifications:Strong leadership skills. Ability to work with cross-functional teams and influence decisions.Knowledge of process, maintenance and production facilities.Ability to apply engineering principles of thermodynamics, heat transfer, mass flow, electrical and mechanical engineering.Ability to work with all levels at the plant as well as with regional management and technical centers. As well with contractors and suppliersUnderstanding of complex mechanical and electrical technology and equipment.Strong analytical skills.Strong mechanical aptitudeAchievement oriented, strong work ethic, tenacious, impeccable attention to detail.Good written and oral communication skills.Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills’ sharing of information openly with others.Works well with other people of diversifies backgrounds.Able to persuade and motivate others.Genuine team approach to problem solving.Ability and analytical approach to problem solving; particularly those of a technical nature.Ability to take initiative based on sound problem skillsAbility to lead with influence, remain flexible and deal with human and technical adverse situationsREQUIRED EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mining, or Industrial Engineering is required.
