Job Description

Position: Child Care SupervisorDepartment: Childcare CentreLocation: Fernie Alpine ResortReporting to: Snow School DirectorAvailability: October 11, 2021Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Inc. is looking to fill the full time winter seasonal position of Supervisor for the Child Care centre at Fernie Alpine Resort. Reporting to the Director of Snow School, this position requires the ideal candidate to have strong organizational and communication skills and previous experience working with children. Some of the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:Duties:

  • Responsible for the day to day operation of the Resort Kids Childcare centre
  • Meet all necessary guidelines and regulations as per governing Ministry of Health
  • Providing a fun, safe, secure environment for all children
  • Must be outgoing, fun, organized and energetic
  • Mentor the staff team in, and personally deliver, great guest relations
  • Must be able to work within a budget
  • Manage inter-departmental communications
  • Manage the booking system for childcare and on snow lessons on a day to day basis, Excel based.
  • Supervise the daily cashout procedure, to account for all transactions, balance float, and charge all guests for their visits.
  • Liase with the WSS supervisors, to request and book instructors on a day to day basis, based on booking requirements.
  • Responsible for developing and leading the team of childcare staff including hiring, coaching, discipline and evaluations, and setting weekly schedules. This will also include midseason evaluations and exit interviews.Plan and implement appropriate daily programs for specific age groups in the centre on a daily basis
  • Training in Food Safe recommended, can be provided
  • Ordering of food via the F&B department at FAR, for lunch and snack options.
  • Ensure that OH & S / WCB training complete for all staff as per FAR policy. All files and documents are up to date, staff training passports, staff files.
  • Know and adhere to the policies, rules and protocols outlined in the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Employee Handbook
  • Know and follow all safe work procedures included in the Safety Management Program
  • Know and comply with all expectations of the Injury Management/Return-to-Work Programs
Qualifications:
  • Early Childhood Education Certificate considered an asset
  • Infant / Toddler Certification considered an asset
  • First Aid certificate is required
  • Must be able to satisfy the necessary criteria as per the Community Care Facility Act
  • Previous experience in a comparable role required
This is a full time winter seasonal position. Our centre offers childcare for children 18 months to 6 years in ½ day or full day spaces plus private ski or snowboard lessons.
