Job Description

Its an amazing time to join Golden Life as we continue to expand our seniors housing, care, and services within western Canada.We’re looking for a Community Manager (Village General Manager) to join our operations leadership team. Rocky Mountain Village is located in the small community of Fernie, BC, in the Elk Valley of south eastern British Columbia. We are a short drive from the shops and services in historic downtown Fernie, as well as from the Elk Valley Hospital. Our spectacular setting and scenic views of the Rocky Mountains provide year-round beauty and contribute to our peaceful relaxing environment. With multiple provincial parks, national parks and golf courses, as well as the Fernie Alpine Resort, nearby, you have an abundance of magnificent terrain to explore. We are looking for a confident and passionate leader to support this thriving community.If youre a passionate and innovative leader, with experience in seniors’ care and housing, hospitality services, and customer relations, then we’d like to hear from you!Were looking for someone who:

  • Fosters a warm, friendly and caring environment for our residents and staff.
  • Effectively oversee the entire Village operations, while providing independence to reporting managers to lead their specialized functions.
  • Guides and monitors the development, implementation and evaluation of service/care plans within each functional area.
  • Coordinates staff orientation and in-service training programs.
  • Conducts performance evaluation and recruiting, developing and performance managing staff.
  • Champions the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of quality standards that ensure overall quality objectives are consistently met.
  • Participates in decision-making related to operational management including workplace health and safety, continuous quality improvement, and human resources management.
  • Administers and monitors the operating budget allocation for designated areas, while ensuring budget targets are achieved.
  • Provides leadership and direction to staff by fostering and promoting new initiatives..
  • Implements and monitors compliance with policies and procedures
  • Engages with the local community to promote Golden Life, grow volunteer base, attract new tenants and encourage quality relationships between the Village and community atlarge (including local government, the medical community, etc.).
  • Work closely with Marketing Department to develop and implement a marketing plan to ensure occupancy meets or exceeds targets.
  • Understands the legal and regulatory requirements for the sector, including the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Landlord/Tenancy Act, Adult Guardianship Act, Food Premises Regulation, etc. (or has a willingness and ability to learn).
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated managerial experience with human resources/supervisory background.
  • Proven leadership, relationship, and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to partner with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Previous experience with social model of care is strongly favored.
  • Good financial acumen, and ability to manage budgets and deliver KPIs.
  • Possesses a high level of intellectual curiosity and demonstrates strong judgment in the face of ambiguity.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Possesses a Cleared Vulnerable Sector – Criminal Record Check.
  • Able to provide a Physician’s Waiver, negative TB Screening and Immunization Record.
  • Can provide proof of full and current COVID-19 vaccines.
