Job Description

Position: Hotel Operations ManagerDepartment: Lizard Creek Lodge & Fernie Slopeside LodgeLocation: Fernie Alpine ResortReporting to: Hotel General ManagerThe ultimate resort destination, nestled in the mountains at Fernie Alpine Resort, Lizard Creek Lodge offers the premier of lodging experience, outdoor adventures abound and beautiful scenery for work and play.The Hotel Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our hotel properties. This role is responsible for overseeing the leadership in front desk, guest services, housekeeping and spa teams. The role is key for maximizing guest satisfaction and achieving business objectives while maximizing profitability. This is a leadership role that requires people management skills, excellent attention to detail and ability to execute and follow through on projects.Duties:

  • Plan and direct the hotel main operations including quality standards, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure consistency and excellence in all operations of the Front Desk, Housekeeping, Guest Services, and Spa
  • Work alongside departmental leaders to ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day operations
  • Conduct weekly operational meetings with the departmental leadership to discuss routine operational matters, departmental performance, and guest feedback.
  • Be a key player in revenue management and distribution strategy; manage rates and inventory across all channels;
  • Monitor, audit and verify financial transactions to maintain accuracy and ensure correct procedure
  • Generate and distribute management and weekly reports
  • Ensure that staffing levels and expenses are within budget;
  • Train, coach and develop a successful & enthusiastic team of hotel employees
  • Ensure that the appearance and conduct of the hotel team is at all times consistent with the hotel brand;
  • Review departmental scheduling in accordance with labour targets and employment policies
  • Complete payroll processes in an accurate and timely manner
  • Handle, investigate and resolve guest concerns in a timely and professional manner. Respond to guest reviews.
  • Support and maintain all aspects of the Resort Safety and Injury Management Program
  • Maintain and adhere to RCR policies and procedures
  • Know and adhere to the policies, rules and protocols outlined in the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Employee Handbook
  • Know and follow all safe work procedures included in the Safety Management Program
  • Know and comply with all expectations of the Injury Management/Return-to-Work Programs
  • To perform other tasks and duties that are applicable
*Qualifications: *
  • Post secondary education in business or hotel management required
  • 3-5 years in a supervisory/management role required
  • Proven experience and strengths in Resource Management, Critical Thinking, Leadership, Team Building and Conflict Management required
  • Proficient in English both verbally and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook)
  • Must be physically capable and able to lift moderately heavy items, along with movements such as bending, stooping and kneeling when required. In addition will be required to stand on feet and/or walk for long periods
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
