Job Description

Position: SnowmakingDepartment: Snowmaking/Mountain OperationsLocation: Fernie Alpine ResortReporting to: Mountain Operations ManagerResorts of the Canadian Rockies Inc. are looking to fill the full-time seasonal position of snowmaker, at Fernie Alpine Resort. Reporting to the Snowmaking Supervisor, the ideal candidate will have both snowmobile and record keeping experience, will be self confident, physically capable and have a desire to work outside in a mountain environment. Some of the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:Duties:

  • Maintain & monitor entire snowmaking system (pumps, hoses & snow guns)
  • Shovel and clear ice
  • Roll and pack hoses
  • General labour as needed
  • Keep records of general snowmaking details
  • Know and adhere to the policies, rules and protocols outlined in the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Employee Handbook
  • Know and follow all safe work procedures included in the Safety Management Program
  • Know and comply with all expectations of the Injury Management/Return-to-Work Programs
  • To perform other tasks and duties that are applicable
Qualifications:
  • Physically capable
  • Ability and desire to work outdoors (day or night) in winter
  • Reliable
  • Self-confident and a quick learner
  • Ability to drive a snowmobile is an asset
  • Capable of working various, round the clock shifts
  • Prior experience in related field an asset
Immediate work start on brush crew before the snow falls then move to snowmaking role when temperatures drop.This role starts early season, shifts vary depending on weather. Early season start, early season close with offer to relocate to Mtn Operations for balance of winter season employment.
