Position Title: Manager R amp;D Process TechnologyPosition Type: Regular - Full-TimePosition Location: Florenceville PPTCRequisition ID: 23703The Manager Processing Technology is responsible for the leadership and implementation of innovation in the areas of processing technology. Leading a team of engineers this position drives strategic and applied research to deliver results against the R amp;D technology roadmap. The Manager position is responsible for steering multiple projects in parallel ensuring collaboration and connectivity across their direct reports, R amp;D and other McCain technical functions globally. This requires close interaction with peers in those technical functions. The role is required to connect internally and externally to identify opportunities, trends, problems and devising targeted innovation and research in response.The manager ensures a pipeline of short to long-term research and innovation delivers against technology unlocks and the R amp;D technology roadmap, creating competitive advantage for the business. A core responsibility is leading and managing the results and outputs of the innovation activities of their team. Strong project management is crucial. The manager requires an ability to inspire creative ambitions that drive new possibilities that are subsequently rooted in applicable scalability. The position is responsible for managing intellectual property and protecting McCain interests appropriately.Understanding food manufacturing at large scale is mandatory and the Manager must demonstrate an advanced understanding of engineering, food processing and equipment. Communication within R amp;D and across other McCain technical functions is required to drive and shepherd R amp;D Technology Roadmap initiatives so they advance smoothly and at pace.The Manager is responsible for coaching and development of direct reports to ensure high levels of performance and engagement. A core requirement is to act as a translator ensuring technical output of their team is strategic and connected to the greater business through competent communication. Garnering alignment and excitement of technology innovation is an important element of success.The Manager reports into the Director R amp;D Technology Innovation and Applied Research. This role is responsible for 4 Global Reports who are technical subject matter experts, typically with higher level education.Core Accountabilities/Outcomes:1.Lead research and innovation focused on food processing, equipment and kit to create McCain competitive advantage. Participate in delivering R amp;D technology roadmap outputs and results.2.Provide expert technical knowledge, in combination with business strategy awareness to enable the analysis and selection of technologies for focused investigation, qualificationamp; validation at bench and pilot.3.Accurate budget management and forecasting for innovation and research projects.4.Investigate, analyze and assess emerging technologies and technologies in competitive and non-competitive industries for applicability to drive growth, cost benefits, and/or sustainability.5.Manage and protect intellectual property associated with innovation and research activities of the team.6.Build and maintain a strong external network to ensure McCain is on the forefront of new technology in processing technology, techniques, and applications. Proactively collaborate and partner with the external network to create extensions of the team to accelerate deliverables.7.Build and lead a high performing team of R amp;D engineers. Hire, onboard and retain an outstanding and diverse team that enjoys working together and exhibits high engagement.8.Build key internal R amp;D relationships with other McCain technical functions including R amp;D, Technical Services, and Engineering. Created and nurture communication channels locally, regionally, and globally to enable the sharing of ideas, pipelines, troubleshooting and best practices. Leverage relationships to enable innovation adoption and advancement.9.Provide technical guidance, equipment recommendations, training and other applicable support to the Global Pilot Network team.Required qualifications and experience:
